Description
Karasuba is Sekirei number 04, a powerful and feared figure known by the epithets the Black Sekirei and MBI's dog. She serves as the leader of the third-generation Disciplinary Squad, an enforcement unit tasked with eliminating Sekirei who break the rules of the Sekirei Plan. Her designation as a single-digit Sekirei immediately marks her as one of the oldest and most formidable participants in the tournament.

Physically, Karasuba is tall with long, light grey hair usually tied in a ponytail, and narrow grey eyes often narrowed into slits. She continues to wear the uniform of the first-generation Disciplinary Squad, which consists of a tight black leather top, a short skirt, stockings, and a grey cape worn over her shoulders displaying the Sekirei crest. Her weapon of choice is a nodachi, a traditional Japanese long sword she carries at her waist.

Karasuba's personality is defined by a deep-seated hatred for humanity and an obsessive love of battle. She views humans as weak and insignificant, and she finds the emotional bond between a Sekirei and her Ashikabi repulsive. This worldview manifests as a casually cruel and bloodthirsty nature; she terminates other Sekirei on a whim to relieve boredom or excitement, showing no hesitation or remorse. Despite this cold demeanor, she becomes genuinely excited when facing a strong opponent. The central pillar of her identity is an unresolved rivalry with a Sekirei named Yume, the leader of the second-generation Disciplinary Squad. Karasuba desperately wanted to fight and defeat Yume, and she resents the other woman deeply for disappearing before they could settle their conflict. This obsession heavily influences nearly all of her actions.

In the story, Karasuba acts as a major force of chaos and a harbinger of the Sekirei Plan's deadliest phase. As the head of the Disciplinary Squad, her role is to enforce MBI's will and punish those who try to escape the city or break the rules, which she does with extraordinary violence. She holds a peculiar and complex relationship with Musubi, the cheerful protagonist. Karasuba calls Musubi Mu-chan and maintains a superficially friendly rapport with her. This connection is due to Musubi having inherited Yume's soul or Tama, making her the living legacy of Karasuba's lost rival. The two have made a promise to be the last two Sekirei left standing, so they can have a final, decisive battle at the end of the tournament. Her relationship with Miya Asama, the landlady of the Izumo Inn, is openly hostile. Miya refuses to allow Karasuba to set foot in the inn, and their mere presence near each other nearly leads to a fight, a tension rooted in past events connected to the death of Miya's husband, Takehito Asama. Her own Ashikabi is Natsuo Ichinomi, a man she chose specifically because he is empty, hateful, and nihilistic like herself, ensuring no loving bond would form between them.

Developmentally, Karasuba is a remarkably static character, driven by an unchanging obsession with the past. Her primary motivation is to finally settle her score with Yume, and since Yume is gone, she transfers that desire onto Musubi as Yume's successor. She actively encourages Musubi to grow stronger, not out of kindness, but to forge a foe worthy of ending her long and bloody journey. While she shows moments of being more patient and even honest when interacting with Musubi, these moments are always in service of her ultimate goal of a final, world-staking battle.

Karasuba's notable abilities place her among the absolute strongest fighters in the series. Her power is such that Matsu, a genius-level strategist, once stated that if Karasuba and Miya were to fight, half of Tokyo would be destroyed in the process. She possesses incredible speed and reflexes, able to kill trained soldiers and other Sekirei in the blink of an eye, often with a single sword stroke. Her nodachi is not only a physical weapon but also has the power to cut through energy and elemental attacks, making her a threat to long-range fighters as well. Her Norito, a powerful chant used by winged Sekirei, is a pledge to exterminate the sworn enemies of her Ashikabi, further amplifying her lethal capabilities. Her immense strength, speed, and skill, combined with her complete lack of mercy, make her a terrifying opponent feared by nearly every other Sekirei.
