Pandore, also rendered as Pandora, is the representative of Hades in the eighteenth-century Holy War of Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas. She is the eldest daughter of the noble Heinstein family of the Kingdom of Prussia, born at Heinstein Castle, and the elder sister of Alone, the mortal boy chosen as the vessel for Hades. In this era she is nineteen years old, tall, with long black hair and pale skin, and she usually dresses in gothic clothing. In every era in which Hades returns to the world, Pandore reincarnates to select a suitable mortal host for her master and to serve as his lieutenant and commander of the 108 Specters, the army of the dead.

Pandore has a forceful and mercurial personality. She is intelligent and ruthless, commanding the Specters with absolute authority, and she can be scandalous, sarcastic, and mocking in her manner. In this incarnation she is far more emotionally expressive than her later selves, openly showing anger, devotion, and scorn. She is intensely attached to Hades, to the point that her devotion borders on hysteria and paranoia, and she keeps him close in a possessive manner. Her loyalty does not come from blind fanaticism; it is rooted in a personal grievance. She resents Athena deeply for taking the place she believes should be hers as Hades' sister, and this resentment makes her hostility toward Athena and her Saints personal rather than merely political.

As the one who sets Hades' return into motion, Pandore finds Alone while he is searching for inspiration for a painting, tells him he is the reincarnation of Hades, and gives him the Yours Ever locket. She later confronts Athena at the Sanctuary and directs the Specter forces during the war. Despite her cruelty, she genuinely cares for her younger brother and carries a deep sense of personal tragedy. She is devastated when she learns that it has been Alone, not Hades, who stood beside her all along. Heartbroken, she departs to find the true Hades and to punish Alone, whom she now hates. Her relationship with Radamanthys of Wyvern, one of the Three Judges of the Underworld and her most trusted subordinate, is marked by mutual loyalty and great affection, and his loss wounds her deeply. Her arc moves from confident servant of a god to a sorrowful figure who discovers that the bond she treasured was with the wrong person and who is left with grief and a thirst for vengeance.

Pandore has little physical strength, but her cosmos is said to be at the level of a deity. She fights with a trident that can fire powerful bursts of cosmic energy, strong enough to break a Gold Cloth and to cancel out a god's attack. Her primary weapon is a harp whose music can torment anyone who hears it, and she owns a ring that summons serpents to bind her enemies. She is also able to move at speeds comparable to light and to teleport at will. Her signature technique is known as Noble Venom.
