Description
Cheshire is a terrestrial Specter serving the god Hades, distinguished by his role as a loyal attendant to Pandora, the commander of the Specter army, rather than as a frontline fighter. His physical appearance is unique among the spectral host, resembling a young man with dark skin, short silver hair, and entirely yellow eyes with pupils shaped like those of a cat. Born on June 7th in the United Kingdom, he stands 157 centimeters tall and has a blood type of B. His Surplice, the armor of a Specter, is based on the Cait Sith, a fairy creature from Scottish mythology often depicted as a large black cat, which aligns with his feline characteristics and his name, a reference to the English region associated with the author of Alice in Wonderland.
In both manner and personality, Cheshire displays stereotypical feline behavior, often acting in a teasing, mocking, and relaxed manner even in the presence of enemies. He provides a degree of comic relief, yet he is not simply carefree; he remains attentive to his duties and the larger situation of the Holy War. When he realizes that the Saints are using a diversionary tactic, he becomes serious and focuses on his mission. He also shows genuine concern over major events, such as the absence of Hades or the intrusion of enemies into the gods' chambers, demonstrating that he is more perceptive than his casual demeanor might suggest.
His primary motivation is his service and loyalty to Pandora. He functions as her charioteer, driving a carriage pulled by headless horses, and acts as a confidant to whom Pandora privately voices her doubts. He is a known associate of the Specter Sylph Edward and, despite his seemingly high position close to the command structure, he largely avoids direct combat throughout the story. He is present at key moments, including the initial invasion of Jamir, where he supervises other Specters, and later when he escorts Pandora to retrieve Hades. During the final stages of the war, Cheshire is taken by Athena and witnesses the resurrection of petrified Saints and soldiers. Remarkably, he is one of the very few Specters to survive the Holy War. After Hades is defeated, Cheshire is no longer a Specter but continues to serve Pandora faithfully, appearing with her at Heinstein Castle.
Regarding his abilities, Cheshire possesses the standard powers of a Specter, including control over the energy known as Cosmos and the ability to move freely between the living world, Yomotsu Hirasaka, and the Underworld. He demonstrates a specific skill called intuition, which is noted as an unusual ability. The official techniques associated with him are named Hide and Seek and Perky Party. However, despite having these named attacks, he never actually engages in a significant battle or exhibits any offensive capabilities in the series, further cementing his role as a non-combatant servant rather than a warrior.
