Description
El Cid de Capricórnio is a central character in the 18th century Holy War, serving as the Gold Saint of the Capricorn Temple in the Sanctuary. At twenty-six years old and standing 187 centimeters tall, he is of Spanish nationality and embodies the essence of a warrior who has forged his own body into the ultimate blade.

His personality is defined by a calm, introverted, and incredibly disciplined nature. El Cid is a man of few words, preferring to express himself through action. He carries himself with an unwavering sense of duty and is exceptionally strict when it comes to the laws of the Sanctuary, to the point of being willing to pursue even his own subordinates if they break the rules. Despite this cold and rigid exterior, he is not unfeeling. He holds a deep respect for his superior, the Sagittarius Gold Saint Sisyphus, and demonstrates genuine concern for his disciples and allies, often forbidding them from following him into battle to protect them from harm. His fighting style is as straightforward as his personality: he fights alone without hesitation or retreat, willing to sacrifice his own life to fulfill his mission. Motivated by a strong sense of justice and the desire to protect Athena and his comrades, he does not hesitate to raise his sword against gods when the path of righteousness demands it.

El Cid plays a pivotal role as one of the Sanctuary's most formidable warriors, initially sent on a mission to rescue the soul of Sisyphus from the Dream World. In this story, he serves as the primary antagonist to the Oneiroi, the four Dream Gods who serve Hypnos. His journey is one of bitter struggle and a testament to his resilience. His first encounter with the Dream Gods, specifically Icelus, ends in disaster when his own Excalibur attack is reflected back at him, severing his right arm. This defeat serves as a catalyst, but does not break him. Driven by duty, he tracks his severed arm through the bond with his Gold Cloth, cutting through dimensions to invade the Dream World for a rematch. There, he redeems himself by swiftly killing Phantasos and, after a tactical battle where he uses his own blood to map spatial distortions, decapitates Icelus.

Key relationships deeply define his character. He views Sisyphus as an older brother and a model of leadership. In the side stories, his past with his childhood friends Mine and Felser is explored. His bond with Mine, a girl who dreamed of forging the perfect sword, and Felser, a gentle giant he saw as an elder brother, shapes his understanding of what it means to be a living blade. His development throughout the story sees him transform from a solitary warrior, who prefers to fight alone, into a mentor and collaborator. In his final battle against the combined Oneiros, he learns to fight alongside the young Pegasus Saint Tenma, ultimately giving his life to protect him from the god's self-destruction.

His abilities revolve entirely around the concept of the ultimate sword. His primary technique is Excalibur, a power that has honed his arms and legs to be as sharp as a legendary holy blade, capable of cutting through almost anything, including space itself and even the divine arrows imbued with Athena's power. He claims his sword is never finished, always striving to make it sharper. Another technique in his arsenal is the Jumping Stone, a powerful counter-attack that uses the enemy's own momentum against them. His final act is a testament to his ultimate mastery, using his Excalibur to split a single golden arrow into four to simultaneously seal the four Dream Gods, a feat of impossible precision and power.
