Description
Blitz, known as Nerve in the original Japanese version, is a resident of the Satellite region and a close friend of the protagonist Yusei Fudo. His full name is Blitz Boylston. He is typically seen in the company of his fellow Satellite residents and roommates, Tank and Nervin, with whom he shares a living and working space at a local recycling plant. The trio forms the core of Yusei’s loyal support network in the harsh environment of Satellite.
Blitz has a direct and assertive personality. He is described as a tough individual who is not prone to second-guessing himself, preferring to remain calm and collected in most situations. True to his straightforward nature, he has a tendency to charge into situations without hesitation, seemingly regardless of the potential danger or risk involved. He is also not one to mince words, as he tends to speak his mind and call things as he sees them.
Within the group, Blitz and his friends serve as Yusei’s primary companions and supporters during his time in Satellite. They are first seen watching a Turbo Duel on a monitor before Yusei arrives at their shared hideout to work on his Duel Runner. Their loyalty to Yusei makes them targets for his enemies; during the Fortune Cup arc, Blitz, along with Rally, Tank, and Nervin, is captured by the organization Iliaster. They are held hostage to coerce Yusei into participating in the tournament. After Yusei reaches the finals, Jack Atlas orders their release, and they are freed in a scrapyard where they watch the final duel.
Blitz’s role becomes more perilous during the Dark Signers arc. After Yusei’s brutal duel with Kalin Kessler, Blitz helps recover Yusei’s damaged Duel Runner. Later, when a mysterious black cloud envelops Satellite, he disappears. It is later revealed that he was one of the many residents of Satellite who were sacrificed to summon an Earthbound Immortal. Following Yusei’s second duel with Roman, Blitz, along with all the other sacrificed people, is revived. He appears again much later in the series during the Arc Cradle arc, where he is seen cheering on Yusei in his final duel against Z-one and watching Yusei and Jack duel on the highway.
Regarding his abilities as a Duelist, Blitz does not engage in any significant Duels in the anime. However, in the video game Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Stardust Accelerator, he is a playable character and uses a Deck known as Total Equip, which consists primarily of Normal Monsters supported by Equip Spell Cards.
