Description
Mina Simington, known in the Japanese version as Mikage Sagiri, is a supporting character in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's who works as the meek secretary to Rex Goodwin, the head of Sector Security. Her background is largely shrouded in mystery, with the Yu-Gi-Oh! Tag Force series describing her as a mysterious woman with a past that is not fully explained. Personality-wise, she is dedicated and loyal to her duties, but she also has a tendency to unintentionally provoke the anger of her superiors, including Goodwin. Around Jack Atlas, she shows a notably softer and sharper side, and it can be inferred from her behavior that she harbors romantic feelings for him, though these feelings are never openly confirmed and remain unrequited. Her primary motivation appears to be her devotion to Jack and her role as his overseer; she is assigned by Goodwin to keep tabs on Jack and report on his activities. Throughout the Fortune Cup storyline and beyond, Mina acts as a liaison between Goodwin and Jack, often appearing in the background to monitor events. Her key relationships include her rivalry with Carly Nagisa and Stephanie for Jack's affections, as well as an unreciprocated crush on her from Officer Trudge. In terms of character development, Mina does not undergo a significant arc in the anime, though the Tag Force video game series suggests that she eventually gives up on her feelings for Jack and moves on. She does not possess any notable dueling abilities and is not shown participating in any duels; her role is strictly administrative and observational. The manga version of the character similarly depicts her as an assistant to Goodwin.
