TV-Series
Description
Ms. Dorothy, known as Tome-san in the original Japanese version, is a member of the support staff at Duel Academy who owns and operates the campus card shop. Despite running a store dedicated to the game, she has very little practical knowledge of the rules of a real Duel. In the English dub, she is sometimes referred to by the nickname Miss Duel Academy.

Ms. Dorothy possesses a perky, sweet, and friendly personality. She is generally well-respected by the student body, even if some of the boys find her behavior a bit odd on occasion. She takes great satisfaction in her work and is known to be very grateful toward those who offer her help.

One of her primary motivations appears to be simply doing her job well and supporting the students at the academy. Her key role in the story is that of a supporting, non-combatant staff member who provides a familiar and friendly presence around the school. She first became acquainted with the protagonist, Jaden Yuki, after he assisted her with a task, and as a reward, she gave him the rare cards Transcendent Wings and Winged Kuriboh LV10. Following this event, she became well acquainted with Jaden and his close circle of friends. Another notable aspect of her personal life is that there are occasional hints suggesting a romantic attraction between her and Chancellor Sheppard.

Ms. Dorothy is not a major duelist in the anime. She is seen participating in only one official Duel throughout the entire series, which is a tag duel where she partners with Chancellor Sheppard against Jaden Yuki and Alexis Rhodes. During this match, she demonstrates her lack of strategic knowledge by summoning the monster Marshmallon in Attack Position, an action that ultimately allowed her opponents to win the Duel very easily. Her character shows little development in terms of dueling skill, remaining a shopkeeper rather than a fighter.

Outside of the main anime storyline, her abilities and deck themes vary in video game adaptations. In Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force, she can be challenged to a duel while wearing a costume of the Dark Magician Girl. Her deck in that game, named D.D.G. (Dark Dorothy Girl), focuses on Fusion Summoning and features many female monsters. In subsequent Tag Force games, her decks are often intentionally weak or whimsical when faced as an opponent, consisting of high-level monsters with no way to summon them or cards that simply draw without strategy, though when partnered with the player, she can use a deck filled with Tuner monsters designed to facilitate powerful Synchro Summons.
