Description
Jude Sharp, known in the original Japanese version as Yuuto Kidou, is a central character whose journey is defined by a powerful mix of tactical genius, familial devotion, and personal redemption. He is initially introduced as the formidable captain of Royal Academy's soccer team, a position that paints him as a primary rival to the main characters before he undergoes a significant transformation.

Jude's background is marked by tragedy and a consequential separation from his family. As young children, he and his younger sister, Celia Hills, lost their parents in a plane crash. They spent time in an orphanage, where Jude's natural talent for soccer was discovered by the manipulative coach Ray Dark. Dark arranged for Jude to be adopted into the wealthy Sharp family, while Celia was taken in by the Hills family, separating the siblings. The only memento Jude kept from his birth parents was an old soccer magazine, which became his emotional link to his father and his reason for playing the sport. To secure the permission to bring his sister back into his life, Jude made a deal with his adoptive father: he had to lead Royal Academy to three consecutive championships in the Football Frontier tournament. This pact forced him to cut off all contact with Celia for years, making her feel unwanted when his true goal was to eventually reunite with her.

In terms of personality, Jude is most famously known as the "Genius Playmaker" or "Expert Strategist". He possesses a sharp, logical, and analytical mind, allowing him to devise complex strategies and counter-strategies almost instantly during matches. Initially, as captain of Royal Academy, he appeared arrogant and ruthless, solely focused on winning under any means necessary as a pawn of Ray Dark. However, a core part of his personality is his deep-seated care for others, particularly his sister and his teammates. Once he rejects Dark's unethical methods, his more honorable and caring nature comes to the forefront. He remains highly logical and calm, but he learns to value the spirited, never-give-up attitude exemplified by Mark Evans. Despite this growth, he experiences moments of deep insecurity, struggling with the fear that he can never truly escape being Ray Dark's "creation" or "masterpiece".

Jude's role in the story is multifaceted. He begins as an antagonist, the captain of the undefeated Royal Academy, imposing a harsh, militaristic style of soccer. After Ray Dark's plan to cheat is exposed, Jude and his team forfeit their match. Following a devastating loss to Zeus Junior High, he loses his confidence but is inspired by Axel Blaze to join the Raimon Eleven, switching his signature red cape for a blue one to signify his new allegiance. At Raimon, he becomes the team's primary strategist and a key player, filling the role of a midfield general who controls the flow and tactics of the game. His tactical expertise is crucial in Raimon's victories against increasingly powerful opponents, including the Aliea Academy teams. Later, he is selected as a core member of Inazuma Japan, the national team, where he returns to wearing a red cape and continues to serve as a vital tactical leader. In the sequel series Inazuma Eleven GO, his role evolves into a mentor and coach, first commanding Royal Academy and later becoming the assistant coach and temporary head coach for Raimon.

Key relationships heavily influence his development. His relationship with his sister, Celia, is his primary motivation; his entire rivalry with Ray Dark and his initial ruthless pursuit of victory were all for the sake of being with her again. His bond with Mark Evans is central to his transformation. He initially looks down on Mark's optimistic and straightforward style but comes to respect and cherish it as the embodiment of true soccer, ultimately leading him to leave Royal Academy and join Raimon. Ray Dark himself is the primary antagonist of Jude's personal story. Dark discovered and groomed Jude, seeing him as his greatest masterpiece. Jude's arc is about breaking free from Dark's psychological control and defining his own path in soccer. He also shares significant bonds with his former Royal Academy teammates, such as Samford and King, and forms a powerful combination on the field with his Raimon companions, Axel Blaze and Bobby/citation:3>.

Throughout the series, Jude's character undergoes a clear arc from a manipulated antagonist to a heroic strategist and leader. He starts as a formidable but morally compromised rival. His decision to join Raimon is the turning point, where he learns to trust in the strength of friendship and unwavering spirit. He later faces an identity crisis, fearing that his soccer is still just an extension of Ray Dark's teachings, but he overcomes this by recognizing the new, positive soccer he has built with his new friends. By the time of Inazuma Eleven GO, he has matured into a calm, dedicated, and demanding coach who passes his knowledge and passion for the game to the next generation.

Jude Sharp is also known for several notable abilities and hissatsu techniques. He is famously recognized by his signature aviator goggles, which were given to him by Ray Dark to improve his game by allowing him to see the ball's trajectory more clearly. His individual technique is the Illusion Ball, a dribbling move where he creates multiple illusory copies of the ball to confuse opponents. He is a master of combination techniques, often involving his former Royal Academy teammates. These include Emperor Penguin No. 2 and its evolution Emperor Penguin No. 3, the Twin Boost, and Death Zone 2, performed with Mark and Bobby. With Mark and Axel, he performs the powerful Inazuma Break, a move that symbolizes their newfound teamwork. His most powerful combination shot is arguably the Big Bang, a technique he performs with two other Inazuma Japan teammates.
