TV-Series
Description
Kakeru Megane is a character from the Raimon soccer team who also serves as a manager for Inazuma Japan. His name is a pun on the Japanese phrase meaning to put on glasses, and his design reflects this with his notably short stature, light skin, dark brown hair, thick eyebrows, small black eyes, and distinctive blue narrow eyeglasses. In the later series Inazuma Eleven GO, he appears taller and with a different hairstyle, often dressed in a dark blue suit with a black tie. He has an identical twin brother named Kazuto Megane, who is more athletic but also more emotionally fragile.
Initially, Kakeru presents himself as arrogant and mischievous, joining the original Raimon team by claiming he would be the hero who saves the club. He demanded to wear the number ten jersey but quickly fled in fear when faced with the might of Teikoku Gakuen, abandoning his uniform. Despite this early cowardice, he remains a kind and caring person at his core. On rare occasions, he can become surprisingly strong and brave, particularly when confronting cheating opponents, as demonstrated in a match against Shuuyou Meito.
His primary passion lies not in playing soccer but in naming his teammates' techniques. He reads extensively and plays many video games to gather ideas for creating catchy names for hissatsu. Throughout the series, it is established that he is not a skilled soccer player. While he often sits on the bench, he sometimes musters the courage to play but is typically overpowered quickly. During the conflicts with Aliea Gakuen, he remains one of the few members who stays with Raimon, although he is easily frightened by unexpected scares and has been known to faint, such as when a bear appeared at a window.
In the third season, as Raimon competes on an international stage, Kakeru transitions to the role of manager and self-proclaimed tactical advisor for Inazuma Japan. In this capacity, he records gameplay, researches opponent databases, and provides explanations. He takes great pride in naming new hissatsu moves, becoming frustrated when other managers like Fuyuka or Haruna name them first. He shares several notable special abilities, including Super Scan, Divine Arrow, God Break, Chaos Break, Megane Crash, and The Earth ∞.
His relationship with his twin brother is a key part of his development. Kazuto, who is more athletic, tries out for Inazuma Japan but fails. Kakeru is seen comforting his brother afterward, showing his caring nature despite his brother being physically stronger. This dynamic highlights that Kakeru carries stronger emotions compared to his brother.
In the events of Inazuma Eleven GO, which takes place ten years later, Kakeru has become a skilled computer hacker. He works behind the scenes to support the new Raimon team. Following orders from Coach Kudou, he hacks into the Fifth Sector's network to install data and reinstate Endou Mamoru as the team's coach. His house is filled with video games and collectibles, reflecting his continued obsession with otaku culture, and his hacking abilities prove crucial to the resistance movement.
