Description
Kōjirō Genda is the goalkeeper for Teikoku Gakuen and later serves as the goalkeeper for Shin Teikoku Gakuen and Neo Japan. He is widely known by the title King of Goalkeepers, a reputation earned through his prideful personality and exceptional skill in goal. Genda is a caring, reliable, and down-to-earth individual who inspires trust in his teammates. He is deeply loyal and follows orders, but he also possesses a rooted moral sense and is not afraid to voice his disapproval of unethical actions, particularly those of his coach Kageyama. His concern for his captain Kidou is evident early on, and he later supports Kidou’s decision to defy Kageyama’s orders. After Teikoku Gakuen’s defeat by Zeus, Genda and his teammate Sakuma are lured by Fudou into joining Shin Teikoku Gakuen, a team coached by Kageyama, motivated by a desire to become stronger without relying on Kidou. During this period, the influence of an Aliea stone amplifies his negative emotions, but he still retains his care for Sakuma and his friends. After the Shin Teikoku incident, Genda returns to normal and eventually joins Neo Japan, a team created by Hitomiko to challenge Inazuma Japan for the national team spot in the Football Frontier International tournament. In the Ares timeline, he shows further growth by acting on his own moral judgment, taking the captain’s armband from Shimerigawa and giving it to Sakuma. Genda’s notable abilities include the hissatsu techniques Power Shield, Full Power Shield, Beast Fang, Drill Smasher V2, Shin Mugen no Kabe, and High Beast Fang. His presence provides emotional stability to his team, making him a key supporting figure throughout the series.
