TV-Series
Description
Chōun Shiryū, also known by her real name Sei, is a central character known as the "Rising Dragon of Changshan." Initially appearing as a general serving under Kousonsan, she is introduced during a battle against the Yellow Turbans, where she confronts an army of twenty-five thousand soldiers single-handedly. Her incredible combat prowess allows her to hold them off until the accumulation of enemy corpses begins to impede her movements, at which point she is rescued by Kan'u. Following this encounter, she meets the protagonist Kazuto and, taking an immediate liking to him, promises to join his forces if she does not find a superior master during her travels. She formally allies with his group alongside Kouchuu after the battle against Enshou.

Sei possesses a complex personality that blends a calm, collected, and powerful demeanor with a playful and flirtatious nature. She is known for her eccentric and unconventional tastes, often being labeled the "weird one" within the group. Her most notable obsessions are menma, a type of bamboo shoot, and alcohol; touching either without her permission will cause her usually serene disposition to shift into something cold, dangerous, and terrifying. Despite her seductive and confident front, she initially displays surprising naivety about romantic and physical relationships. In the visual novel, she mistakes the concept of "pillow games" for a literal pillow fight and, while her knowledge from observing soldiers allows for some competence, she is initially unprepared for more intimate encounters. She is, however, a quick learner and later becomes one of the most informed and open members of the group regarding Kazuto's harem.

A significant and defining aspect of Sei's character is her secret alter ego as Kachou Kamen, or Butterfly Mask, a masked hero of justice who patrols the city delivering dramatic speeches and striking poses in a parody of tokusatsu genres. Her disguise consists of nothing more than a butterfly mask worn over her standard attire, yet only Kazuto and Koumei consistently recognize her, a fact of which she remains blissfully unaware. As Butterfly Mask, she rescues Ryuubi from bandits, leading Ryuubi to develop a deep admiration and crush on the masked heroine, much to Sei's flattered delight. In OVAs, this persona is taken to absurd extremes, including the ability to grow to giant size and the appearance of blinking lights on her chest, reminiscent of Ultraman.

On the battlefield, Sei is a master of spearmanship. Unlike other spear-users who may focus on slashing or power, her technique specializes in swift, precise, and rapid stabbing attacks, favoring agility over brute strength. Her fighting style is often described as graceful, resembling a dance as she cuts down her foes with deadly efficiency. In addition to her spear, she is proficient in hand-to-hand combat, marksmanship (able to throw her butterfly masks like shuriken), horsemanship, and acrobatics, capable of balancing perfectly on the tip of Kan'u's guandao. Her physical prowess grants her enhanced strength, speed, reflexes, and stamina. Beyond her physical abilities, she possesses a high intellect, displaying strategic wisdom in battle and governance, and is capable of leading troops with the skill of a modern commando unit. Her primary weaknesses are her lack of raw power compared to some of her peers and her ego, which can lead to lengthy monologues and communication issues due to her eccentricity.

Within the story, her key relationships include a close bond with Kazuto, for whom she eventually conceives a child in later media such as Shin Koihime † Eiyuutan. She shares a dynamic with Kan'u, whom she frequently teases about her physical attributes, often flustering her. She also acts as a supposed "master of love" alongside Kouchuu. Her role adapts across different story routes, but she consistently serves as a general for the Shoku faction, often unofficially handling military intelligence due to her perceptiveness and strategic mind. Over the course of the series, particularly in spin-offs like Moeshouden, she shifts from a military general to a key participant in the harem dynamics, competing for Kazuto's affection while never losing her core traits of menma obsession, chuunibyou tendencies, and her beloved identity as Kachou Kamen.
