Description
Klaris Lutz is a supporting character in the anime Shangri-La. She is a German woman working for Ishida Finance who serves as a friend and business associate to the main character, Karin Ishida. Her defining traits are a strong love of money, a deep-seated hatred of poverty, and a materialistic drive that leads her to acquire extravagant assets, such as an entire Ferrari company. She was also quick to recognize the potential in Karin's thesis and helped organize volunteers to support it. For almost the entire series, Klaris is only known to the audience through her instant message conversations with Karin, where she uses a deformed, child-like avatar that creates a playful persona. This digital presence is her only form of interaction with the story's events. Karin refers to her affectionately as Poor Klaris during these exchanges. Klaris's development is largely defined by the eventual reveal of her true self: she does not make a physical appearance until the very end of the series when she visits Karin in person. This encounter reveals her to be a mature-looking woman, a stark contrast to her juvenile online avatar. Her notable abilities lie not in combat or physical prowess, but in her financial intelligence, organizational skills, and the considerable wealth and influence she has accumulated.
