Description
Mikoto Kibitsu stands as the central protagonist. His traumatic origin stems from being the son of a human mother and the Oni Gaki, who accidentally consumed his wife. Left with a human village, Mikoto faced public persecution when a horn on his head was discovered; villagers tied him up for beration. His life shifted dramatically when the original Momotaro intervened, rescuing him and providing care. Mikoto adopted his rescuer's name, embracing Momotaro as a mentor and father figure. Following Momotaro's death at the hands of the Kishin, Mikoto inherited his sword and a talking dog companion, solidifying his mission to eradicate all Oni.

Physically, Mikoto possesses long dark hair, a soft voice, and a notably androgynous appearance that frequently leads to mistaken female identity, often provoking blushing reactions from others. In combat against Oni, his demeanor shifts into intense bloodlust, unsettling even allies.

Personality-wise, he maintains a calm, distant, and self-reliant exterior, preferring solitary action. Despite this inclination, others persistently gravitate towards him, insisting he need not face challenges alone. A pronounced sadistic streak surfaces during Oni confrontations, revealing a darker facet. His hatred for Oni borders on obsession, sometimes distracting him when sensing their presence—a drive fueled by his traumatic past and the loss of his mentor.

His abilities center on two key power systems. The Peach Eyes, transferred after his master Hiko was killed by the Law God Oni Nobrega, react to nearby Oni or demons, granting heightened senses. Their activation coincided with awakening his latent Oni Power, enabling absorption of Oni-based attacks, including those from Oni Gods or Kishin-level entities. This combination allowed him to defeat foes like Nobrega and Red Mask, the latter claiming planet-altering capabilities. Mikoto wields Hiko's inherited katana with exceptional proficiency, demonstrating strategic adaptability honed since childhood. His skills enable him to single-handedly eliminate Oni hordes and potentially decimate armies, supported by massively hypersonic speed capable of evading lightning strikes and durability that withstands catastrophic assaults.

Key relationships shape his journey. His bond with Saltherine Aldarake (Sally) remains significant; they regard each other highly and assist in danger, with Sally showing possible romantic interest. He travels with Dog, who acts as counsel and a stabilizing influence during traumatic episodes. Millia, an Oni companion, accompanies him despite his genocidal mission toward her kind. His profound connection to Hiko embodied a father-son dynamic, tragically ended by Hiko's death, intensifying Mikoto's vendetta.

Narrative development shows his evolution from a vengeful lone warrior to intermittently accepting companionship, though his core mission persists. Instances of bloodlust-induced loss of control occur, requiring Dog's intervention to regain composure, often followed by apologetic self-awareness. Encounters with Sally challenge his philosophy through her coexistence ideals, yet he maintains his belief that humans and Oni inherently hate and kill each other, viewing it as an unavoidable reality.
