TV-Series
Description
Dodoria serves as one of the two primary personal bodyguards and elite enforcers for the tyrannical emperor Freeza, acting alongside his counterpart, Zarbon. The character's name is derived from the durian fruit, reflecting a naming convention common among Freeza's forces that often references cold-related or, in this case, tropical fruit-based puns. In terms of physical appearance, Dodoria is a large, bulky humanoid with vibrant pink skin, a bald head featuring several small spikes, and additional spikes protruding from his forearms. He has pointed ears, no visible eyebrows, and his facial features, including his eyes and mouth, are outlined with a distinct purple contour marked by striations. As a high-ranking member of the Freeza Force, he wears a standard-issue battle armor, the main body of which is dark blue, complemented by shoulder pads and abdominal plating that are typically a contrasting color, such as yellow or brown, along with white boots and dark pants.

The personality of Dodoria is defined by a brutal, sadistic, and cruel nature, combined with an unwavering loyalty to his master, Freeza. He takes immense pleasure in dominating and exterminating those who are weaker than him, showing no hesitation or remorse in massacring entire villages, including defenseless children and the elderly, as seen during Freeza's invasion of Planet Namek. This bloodthirsty and warlike demeanor makes him a terrifying figure on the battlefield. However, this brutal facade conceals a deeply cowardly core. When confronted by an opponent who surpasses him in strength, such as Vegeta, Dodoria's arrogance rapidly crumbles into desperate pleading and attempts to bargain for his life, revealing him to be a bully who preys only on the weak. He is also portrayed as somewhat arrogant and overconfident in his own power, a trait that contributes to his downfall.

Dodoria's primary motivation is to serve Freeza and maintain his privileged position within the empire. He derives his sense of purpose and security from being a favored member of Freeza's inner circle. His role in the story is significant, as he functions as a direct representative of Freeza's overwhelming cruelty and a major obstacle for the protagonists. Before the main events of the series, Dodoria carries out Freeza's orders to eliminate the Saiyan race, personally leading the attack on Bardock's team on the planet Meat. Years later, on Planet Namek, Freeza dispatches Dodoria to hunt down the Namekian Dragon Balls. He viciously interrogates and exterminates Namekian villagers, personally killing the Namekian warrior defenders and a young Namek named Cargo before attempting to murder Dende. This action directly draws Krillin and Gohan into a confrontation, forcing them to flee with the child.

The most pivotal relationship in Dodoria's arc is with his master, Freeza, whom he fears and serves absolutely. He also has a professional comradery with Zarbon, as the two are frequently seen flanking Freeza and represent the two pillars of his elite guard. However, the key relationship that defines his end is with the Saiyan prince, Vegeta. After the Saiyans' betrayal, a more powerful Vegeta ambushes Dodoria on his way back to Freeza. In a desperate bid to save his own life, Dodoria reveals a monumental secret: it was Freeza himself, not a meteor, who destroyed Planet Vegeta, fearing a potential insurrection by the united Saiyan race. This revelation, meant to buy his freedom, only seals his fate. Vegeta, enraged by years of servitude under the genocidal tyrant, shows no mercy and kills Dodoria with a single, powerful energy blast. This moment marks the end of Dodoria's development, as he serves as a catalyst for Vegeta's deepening hatred and thirst for revenge against Freeza.

In terms of combat abilities, Dodoria is a formidable warrior with a high power level, estimated to be around 22,000 units, which at the time made him superior to many other soldiers in Freeza's army and even the Saiyans who had arrived on Earth earlier. He possesses superhuman strength, speed, and durability, allowing him to effortlessly kill three experienced Namekian warriors simultaneously. He is proficient in flight and ki manipulation, capable of firing powerful energy waves. One of his signature techniques is the Chou Makouhou, a lethal blast fired directly from his mouth, which he uses to execute opponents. Other named attacks in various media include the Dodoria Head Breaker, where he uses his spiked head as a crushing weapon, and the Dodoria Ultra Spike. Despite his raw power, a notable weakness is his near-total reliance on his scouter to locate opponents; once it is destroyed, he struggles to sense energy, leaving him vulnerable to ambushes, a shortcoming that Vegeta exploits to its fullest.
