OVA
Description
Natsume is a young woman who appears in the Ranma ½ OAV series as an itinerant martial artist. She travels across Japan alongside her younger sister, Kurumi, in search of their long-lost father, Soun Tendo. Their quest leads them to the Tendo Dojo, where they challenge and defeat Akane Tendo and Ranma Saotome, briefly usurping their claim to inherit the dojo and carry on the Anything Goes Martial Arts style. However, after a rematch, they concede their claim. Natsume is the elder of the two sisters and is portrayed as more serious and less sensitive than Kurumi. She takes her role as a potential successor to the Tendo Dojo very seriously, driven by a sense of entitlement to the dojo's legacy. Her motivations are rooted in the search for her father and the desire to claim what she believes is rightfully hers. Her relationship with her sister is central; they act as a unit, with Natsume often taking the lead. She has no notable romantic or deep personal connections to the main cast beyond the brief rivalry with Ranma and Akane. Development is minimal, as her arc is confined to the OAV episodes; she appears, challenges, loses, and departs. Her martial arts abilities are sufficient to initially defeat the protagonists, but she lacks deeper specialization or unique techniques. Natsume and Kurumi are the only characters created specifically for the OAVs and do not appear in the original manga.
