Description
Lichtendahl Tsery is a young man who serves as the helmsman of the Ptolemaios, the mothership of the paramilitary organization Celestial Being in the Anno Domini timeline. He is commonly referred to by the nickname Lichty by his fellow crew members. His background is marked by tragedy during the solar power wars, when his parents, who were engineers working on orbital elevators, lost their lives. Lichtendahl himself was critically injured in the same incident, sustaining wounds so severe that much of his body had to be replaced with mechanical parts, making him a cyborg. This experience left him grappling with questions of identity, struggling with the boundary between being alive and dead, human and machine, and with his dependence on technology to survive.

Despite these heavy burdens, Lichtendahl presents a cheerful, good-natured, and talkative personality. He often maintains a lighthearted demeanor even in serious situations, sometimes smiling or speaking in a relaxed tone during battles. He tends to be chatty and occasionally needs to be reprimanded by Christina Sierra for engaging in conversation while on duty. His friendly nature leads him to try to build personal connections among the crew of the Ptolemaios, who otherwise maintain a professional distance due to the secrecy requirements of Celestial Being. However, his cheerfulness can sometimes give the impression of lacking gravity, and his compulsive positivity may be seen as a coping mechanism for his traumatic past.

His primary motivation appears to be a desire to belong and to contribute to Celestial Being’s mission of eradicating war, likely influenced by the losses he suffered during the solar power conflicts. He was selected by the quantum supercomputer Veda to join the organization, possibly because of his personal history and his enhanced capabilities. He does not pilot a Gundam but serves as the vice-helmsman of the Ptolemaios, responsible for navigating and piloting the ship. Additionally, he is trained to operate support mobile weapons such as the GN Arms and the Assault Container, acting as a gunner when needed. His cybernetic body likely aids his reflexes and endurance, though he does not possess the special quantum brainwave abilities of Innovators.

In terms of key relationships, Lichtendahl interacts most frequently with the bridge crew of the Ptolemaios. He shares a warm rapport with Christina Sierra, who often scolds him good-naturedly, and with other crew members such as Feldt Grace and Sumeragi Lee Noriega. He tries to bridge the distance between the Gundam Meisters and the support staff, though his efforts are met with varying degrees of success.

Lichtendahl’s development is limited by his relatively short screen time. He begins as a cheerful but somewhat naive crew member and reveals deeper layers of trauma when his past is hinted at during conversations. In the decisive battle against the United Nations forces near Lagrange 1, he perishes when the Ptolemaios comes under heavy attack. His death is a sudden loss for the crew, underscoring the cost of Celestial Being’s intervention. Despite his cheerful exterior, his story highlights the personal tragedies that drive individuals to join the organization and the price they pay.

His notable abilities include piloting large spacecraft and operating heavy support weapons, skills likely enhanced by his cybernetic modifications. He is not a frontline combatant but provides critical logistical support, enabling the Gundam Meisters to operate effectively. His resilience, both physical and emotional, allows him to face the grim reality of his own existence with a smile, making him a memorable yet tragic figure within the narrative.
