Description
Lord Djibril is a key antagonist in the Second Alliance-PLANT War. He rises to lead both the secret society Logos and the anti-Coordinator extremist group Blue Cosmos after the death of his predecessor, Muruta Azrael. As a Natural supremacist, Djibril holds an unwavering conviction that Coordinators are humanity's enemy and must be exterminated at any cost. He sees himself as a pragmatist who takes decisive action, distinguishing himself from what he considers cowards and dreamers. His leadership style emphasizes ruthlessness and a willingness to employ extreme measures including assassination, manipulation, and mass destruction. He exploits the Junius Seven colony drop as a pretext to reignite hostilities, feeding manipulated evidence to the Earth Alliance to provoke the conflict. Throughout the war, Djibril uses his influence over the Earth Alliance to push a genocidal agenda. He is responsible for deploying the Requiem superweapon, a massive orbital cannon based at the Daedalus lunar base, which he orders fired at the PLANTs, resulting in the destruction of several colonies and heavy casualties. His personality is marked by impulsiveness and spitefulness when his plans fail, and he lacks the charisma of his predecessor, often appearing petulant in defeat. He maintains key relationships with the Seiran noble family of Orb, who shelter him after he is forced to flee from the Logos stronghold of Heaven's Base. His primary rival is PLANT chairman Gilbert Durandal, whose manipulation ultimately exposes Logos's role in the war, forcing Djibril into hiding. Djibril is killed in CE 74 when his escape shuttle, a Girty Lue-class vessel, is destroyed by the ZAFT battleship Minerva during the assault on the Daedalus base. His death marks the end of Logos's direct influence and a turning point in the war. Notable abilities include his political maneuvering and control over the Earth Alliance's military decisions, though he possesses no combat abilities himself.
