Marrie Ramias, also romanized as Maryu Ramias, is the captain of the Earth Alliance battleship Archangel, a role she assumed after the original command crew was killed during a ZAFT attack on the Heliopolis colony. A Natural by genetic type, she was born in Cosmic Era 48 and joined the Earth Alliance military, rising through the ranks through her competence and dedication. Her leadership style is defined by a strong moral compass and a compassionate nature; she is willing to set aside strict military protocol when it conflicts with her humanistic instincts, particularly when protecting civilians or doing what she believes is right. In Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny, she initially lives a civilian life but eventually returns to active duty, taking command of the Archangel once more to intervene in the renewed conflict.
