Description
Masami Ooshige is a supporting character in the anime and manga series Looking for the Full Moon, known in Japanese as Full Moon o Sagashite. She serves as the assigned manager of the idol Full Moon, the stage identity of the protagonist Mitsuki Koyama. Before becoming a manager, Masami was a singer who performed under the stage name Yuina Hanakazari, though her music career never achieved significant success. She was also a devoted fan of the band ROUTE L, especially of its lead singer Keiichi Wakaouji, whom she affectionately calls Prince due to his stage nickname from that time.

Masami is a kind-hearted and understanding person who genuinely cares for those around her, particularly Mitsuki. She is often described as funny and sometimes clumsy, but she remains reliable and protective, especially in her role as Mitsuki’s manager. In the anime adaptation, where Mitsuki’s dual identity is revealed earlier than in the manga, Masami becomes like a strong older sister who safeguards Mitsuki’s welfare. Despite her cheerful exterior, Masami experiences deep loneliness. She attempts to fill this void by dating her boss, Mitsuru Kijyou, but her true feelings are rooted in a long-standing, one-sided love for Keiichi Wakaouji, whom she met years earlier when they collaborated on a music video.

Her motivation is twofold: to support Mitsuki in achieving her singing dreams and to find personal happiness in her own life. Throughout the story, Masami balances her professional duties as a manager with her personal yearnings. She also enjoys drinking, a trait that is occasionally shown in lighter moments.

Masami’s key relationships are with Mitsuki, whom she treats with maternal concern and unwavering support; with Keiichi Wakaouji, the object of her affection who eventually returns her feelings; and with Mitsuru Kijyou, a temporary romantic interest that highlights her loneliness.

Her development is most pronounced in the manga continuity. Over the course of the story, her quiet devotion to Keiichi is validated when he discovers that she was the author of a mysterious love letter he had treasured. This revelation leads him to realize that she is the person he truly loved all along, and he proposes marriage. In the anime, their relationship develops more subtly in the background, but the same reconciliation is implied.

Notable abilities include her experience as a former singer, which gives her insight into the music industry, and her competence as a manager, handling the logistics of Mitsuki’s career while protecting her secret identity. Additionally, in the manga, she is revealed to have composed the love letter, indicating a creative and literary talent.
