Description
Midori Chitose is the main female protagonist of Green Green. She is an outgoing and cheerful girl who arrives at Kanenone Gakuen as part of a trial integration with an all-girls school. From the moment she steps off the bus, she immediately embraces a confused Yuusuke Takazaki, hinting that she already knows him. It is revealed that she retains memories of a past life: in a previous existence, she and Yuusuke were lovers whose relationship was forbidden, and they promised to meet again. Yuusuke has no recollection of this past. Midori's personality is bright and lively; she is often smiling and seems to have an inexhaustible enthusiasm. She is willing to do almost anything to please Yuusuke, including filling out a highly personal questionnaire given by the Baka Trio. Despite her simple and cheerful exterior, she is quite intelligent and understands more than she lets on. She actively tries to foster harmony between the boys and girls at the school and finds the antics of the Baka Trio amusing rather than irritating. Her actions can be oblivious to their effects, such as climbing onto a bedridden Yuusuke in her lingerie or clinging to his arm after class. Throughout the series, her primary motivation is to rekindle her connection with Yuusuke and change their fate, as she declares upon arrival. She shows some jealousy when other girls, like Futaba, develop feelings for Yuusuke, leading her to confront him. Midori does not have any special supernatural abilities; her notable traits are her cheerful persistence, her emotional openness, and her subtle intelligence. Her development centers on her growing relationship with Yuusuke and her attempts to make him remember their shared past. Her given name, meaning green, ties into the series title. She is a central figure whose mysterious familiarity with Yuusuke drives the plot forward.
