Description
Gallus is a prominent supporting character from the MapleStory anime, serving as the chief of the warriors in the village of Perion on Maple Island. His character design is based on the in-game monster known as the Muscle Stone, and he has a formidable, rock-like appearance reminiscent of a stone golem or the Iron Giant, characterized by a large, solid build and tiny, often expressionless eyes. He is typically equipped with a Maple Dragon Axe, although his preference in combat is often to rely on his own tremendous physical strength and fight with his fists, directly engaging his opponents.

In terms of personality, Gallus is a classic representation of a powerful and honorable warrior. He is initially portrayed with a strong sense of pride in his strength and his position as the leader of Perion. Direct and blunt in his manner, he can be quick to anger, as seen when he is provoked into attacking a group of Zakums, demonstrating a fierce and explosive temper in battle. Despite his gruff exterior and immense power, Gallus is not without a softer side, showing a capacity for embarrassment or shyness, such as in a situation where he blushes after receiving a compliment. He is deeply dedicated to protecting his village and his comrades, and his journey throughout the series revolves around understanding the true meaning of being a warrior.

Gallus's primary motivation is to protect his home of Perion and to defeat the forces that threaten it, specifically the antagonist Godfried. His role in the story is significant, particularly during the arc set in his hometown. When the group arrives in Perion, they discover it has been taken over by one of Zakteman's generals, who is revealed to be Godfried. Godfried was once Gallus's superior and the intended successor to Chief Kahn, but he left the village after being passed over for leadership. This creates a deep personal conflict for Gallus, as he must confront a former ally who has now become a powerful enemy. This challenge forces Gallus to seek a way to increase his own power, leading to a quest for a legendary weapon.

Throughout this personal journey, Gallus develops significantly. His primary relationship is with his former superior, Godfried, representing the path of a warrior who values power above all else. Conversely, his relationship with Chief Kahn, the wise elder of Perion, serves as a moral guide. When Gallus seeks Kahn's counsel on how to defeat Godfried, Kahn does not simply give him a new weapon but instead sends him on a trial to the Ancient City ruins to retrieve the holy weapon, the Dragon Platon, from the Legend of Gigal. This quest is a test of his character. Upon finding the weapon, a stone lion guardian presents Gallus with a critical choice: he can take the Dragon Platon, but only at the cost of his friends' lives. At this pivotal moment, Gallus rejects the weapon, declaring that he has learned the true meaning of fighting is not about power alone but about protecting his comrades. By demonstrating selflessness and honor, he proves himself worthy, and the guardian transforms into the weapon in his hands, signifying his growth from a warrior who simply seeks strength to a true hero. In the final battle with Godfried, Gallus even throws the legendary weapon away to save his friends, an act that further cements his understanding of true power before he retrieves it to finally defeat his enemy. After the victory, he chooses to leave the Dragon Platon with Ion to protect the village, showing that his worth is no longer defined by possessing a powerful artifact.

Notable abilities include his immense physical strength, preferring hand-to-hand combat over his axe. He possesses incredible durability, as befits his stone-like body. His signature techniques include the ability to use Stance to block an opponent's moves and Rush to launch a powerful charging attack. His ultimate power is channeled through the legendary Dragon Platon axe, which he earns after proving his heroic worth and uses to defeat Godfried.
