Description
Kō Yukina is a 21-year-old oil painting major at Tōto University of Arts. Standing 186 cm tall with light brown hair and eyes, he sports multiple ear piercings—four on his left ear and one on the right. At Marimo Books, his work uniform consists of a white long-sleeved shirt, pants, and a blue apron. Casually, he favors a beanie, a green fur-lined hooded coat, or a paint-stained jumpsuit during art sessions; at home, he ties his hair into a ponytail. Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido, on September 6, he blends proactive optimism with underlying stubbornness.

Yukina first noticed Shōta Kisa while working at the bookstore, initially mistaking him for a high school student due to his youthful appearance. Their formal introduction occurred after Takafumi Yokozawa intervened, leading to a café conversation where Yukina sketched a book display idea. Concealed behind his sketchpad, Yukina impulsively kissed the silent Kisa. Later, after scaring off Kisa’s harassing ex-boyfriend, Yukina discovered Kisa edited his favorite manga, confessed his feelings, and initiated their relationship.

Their relationship navigates challenges rooted in Kisa’s insecurities about their age difference and Yukina’s popularity, exacerbated by Kisa’s history of casual relationships and jealousy over Yukina’s closeness with friend Rio Kojima. When Kisa attempts to break up during a misunderstanding, Yukina confronts him at his apartment. He rejects the breakup, reassures Kisa of his commitment despite his past, and shares personal details to strengthen their bond. Though initially troubled by Kisa’s romantic history, Yukina prioritizes their future, demanding mutual fidelity.

Yukina’s artistic path intersects with personal growth. His older brother Mikado, a firefighter, once doubted his prospects as an artist, causing tension. After witnessing Yukina’s focused dedication to painting and learning of his relationship with Kisa, Mikado gains confidence in Yukina’s choices and endorses their partnership. Yukina admires classical artists like Klimt and Vermeer, enjoys museum visits, and maintains a disciplined approach to his craft.

In "Proposal Edition," Yukina attends a colleague’s wedding with Kisa. During the reception, he teases Kisa about imagining him in a suit, sparking a playful refusal over concerns about his "sparkly" appearance. Later, Yukina notices Kisa still wearing a band-aid on his ring finger—a symbolic gesture from Masamune Takano—and subtly smiles at him across the room, mirroring Takano’s silent acknowledgment of commitment.
