Description
Miss Merry Christmas, whose real name is Drophy, is a former officer agent of the criminal organization Baroque Works and a major antagonist encountered during the Alabasta conflict. She is a stout, middle-aged woman with red hair, and her appearance includes a necktie shaped like a Christmas tree, a large pair of purple-lensed sunglasses, a basket strapped to her back, and sandals. Her codename follows Baroque Works' theme of holiday-based aliases. In terms of personality, she is the direct opposite of her slow and methodical partner, Mr. 4. She speaks at an extremely rapid pace, often clipping words down to only their first syllables in a high-pitched, childlike voice, and frequently calls others idiots. This impatient and high-strung demeanor contrasts with her professional focus on tactical execution. Her primary motivation is loyalty to Baroque Works and the execution of her assigned missions, as she operates as a disciplined and capable agent who values efficiency in combat. Her role in the story is to serve as an obstacle for the Straw Hat Pirates, specifically Usopp and Tony Tony Chopper, who must overcome the duo's coordinated fighting style. Drophy and Mr. 4 are a complementary pair: she uses her Devil Fruit ability to control the battlefield from below, while he uses his immense strength and a transforming bazooka-dog named Lassoo to attack from above. Key relationships include her partnership with Mr. 4, which exemplifies Baroque Works' strategy of pairing agents with synergistic powers. She also answers to higher-ranking officers such as Mr. 0, also known as Sir Crocodile, and Miss All Sunday, known as Nico Robin. Her character does not undergo significant development within the story, as she remains a static antagonist. Following the downfall of Baroque Works, she finds work as a princess at the new Spiders Cafe alongside many of her former colleagues. Notable abilities come from the Mogu Mogu no Mi, a Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows her to transform into a giant mole or a mole-human hybrid. This grants her the power to tunnel through earth and sand at high speed, emerge unexpectedly beneath opponents, and attack with sharp digging claws. She is also difficult to track or engage directly while underground, making her a strategic asset for ambushes and repositioning.
