Description
Mami Kingetsu is a Japanese voice actress and singer affiliated with Aoni Production. She was born on April 2, 1965, in Akashi City, Hyogo Prefecture, and grew up in Kasukabe City, Saitama Prefecture. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Literature at Otsuma Women's University, where she majored in English. Kingetsu stands 156 cm tall and has O-type blood.
Kingetsu's career in entertainment began in childhood when she joined the Gekidan Himawari theater company, working as a child actor. Her earliest credited role was in the 1976 anime "Cat-Eyed Boy," and she appeared as a child actor in the 1981 series "Manga Mito Kōmon". During high school, she was introduced to narration work through her agency at the time, Ohata Production's broadcasting department. After graduating from university, she briefly worked as an assistant in the Practical English department at Otsuma Women's University's junior college before fully committing to her voice acting career.
Kingetsu's career-defining role came in 1994 when she was cast as the heroine Shiori Fujisaki in Konami's landmark恋爱 simulation game "Tokimeki Memorial." The role brought her widespread fame and established her as a prominent figure in the voice acting industry. The character's popularity led to numerous spin-off games, drama CDs, and music albums, with Kingetsu performing many songs as Fujisaki. During the height of the series' popularity, she took time to study abroad at Eastern Michigan University in the United States.
In video games, Kingetsu is also well known for her long-running roles as Li Xiangfei in the "Fatal Fury" and "The King of Fighters" series, and as Daji in Koei Tecmo's "Warriors Orochi" series. Her other notable game credits include Alisa in "Tengai Makyō: Daiyon no Mokushiroku," Deneb Loeb in "Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together," and Flare Schenk in the "Atelier" series.
In anime, Kingetsu has built an extensive and varied filmography. She is known to international audiences for her roles in the long-running series "One Piece," where she has voiced multiple characters including Miss Merry Christmas, Bonnie, Stussy, and Charlotte Compote. She also voiced the role of Baili Zhen in the 2018 anime series "Xuan Yuan Sword Luminary". Other significant anime roles include Celine Jules in "Star Ocean EX," Elena in "Gun Sword," Izumi Himuro in "Princess Nine," Misao Aki in "Peach Girl," Nagisa Shiozaki in "If I See You in My Dreams," and Maruko Fujimura in "PetoPeto-san". She also voiced Rei Kazama in the OVA and film series "éX-D: Danger Zone," Cobalt Claw in "Re: Cutie Honey," and the mother character in "Lily, Frogs, and Little Brother".
