Description
Rangiku Matsumoto is the lieutenant of the 10th Division of the Gotei 13, serving directly under Captain Tōshirō Hitsugaya. In Bleach: The DiamondDust Rebellion, she and the 10th Division are assigned to escort a rare artifact known as the King's Seal, which is said to hold unlimited power. During the escort, the seal is stolen by the rogue Soul Reaper Sōjirō Kusaka, and Hitsugaya is wounded in the encounter. When Hitsugaya abandons his post to pursue Kusaka, Rangiku is left with the rest of the division, and the entire squad is later placed under house arrest after the Soul Society comes to suspect the captain of treason. Throughout the film, her role is defined by her loyalty to Hitsugaya. She continues to trust him while he is hunted as a fugitive, and in the closing scene she accompanies him to visit Kusaka's grave after his name is cleared.
