Damian serves as an intermediary within the smuggling organization Headkeeper. When a package intended for Headkeeper, containing weapons, is accidentally loaded onto a delivery truck and transported away, Damian becomes involved. After learning the delivery driver was arrested for smuggling the weapons, Damian participates in Headkeeper's operation to break into the prison, rescue the driver, and recover their cargo. The operation initially succeeds, freeing the driver and securing the package. However, during their escape, Imperial soldiers led by Helman intercept them. Outmatched during their escape in a slower vehicle, Headkeeper is forced into a confrontation. In the fight, Damian suffers severe wounds from Helman. Believing him dead, the other Headkeeper members escape without him. Damian survives his injuries. Helman discovers this, captures him, and chooses not to report his survival to Imperial authorities. Helman tortures Damian to extract the location of Headkeeper's hideout in the next city. After obtaining this information, Helman abandons Damian, leaving him to die.
