Description
Glen Baskerville is not a single individual but rather the title held by the successive leaders of the Baskerville family, a powerful and secretive ducal house in the fictional setting of the story. The title is intrinsically linked to the soul of its bearer, which is passed down through a unique and grim ritual. When a Glen selects a successor, their own soul and the powerful Chains bound to them are transferred into the new vessel. The previous body, now empty, then transforms into a new Chain itself, such as the creature known as Humpty Dumpty. Over the course of the narrative, three main bearers of the title are known: the first is Levi, the second is Oswald, and the third is a boy named Leo.

Levi Baskerville is the earliest known Glen, appearing as a figure wrapped in bandages whose body had deteriorated from sustaining the title. He is the master who raised both Oswald and his sister Lacie. Levi is a deeply curious and amoral individual, driven by a desire to understand the Abyss and not by malice or benevolence. To satisfy this curiosity, he orchestrated a cruel experiment that led to Lacie being cast into the Abyss, where she gave birth to the twin beings, Alice and the Will of the Abyss. He finds amusement in the unfolding of events and operates by his own unusual code, even providing Jack Vessalius with a secret map into the Baskerville mansion simply because he found Jack interesting.

The second Glen is Oswald Baskerville, originally a servant to Levi and the older brother of Lacie. Oswald is a quiet, withdrawn, and seemingly melancholic man with black hair and purple eyes. He is a person of few words who rarely smiles, yet those close to him recognize a deep-seated gentleness and a profound sense of duty. As a child, he was forced to adhere to Baskerville tradition by personally casting his sister, a child of misfortune, into the Abyss as a sacrifice. This act haunted him. He is a talented musician, composing the melancholic song Lacie for his sister, and together with his best friend, Jack Vessalius, he created a pocket watch that plays the melody. Despite his tragic history, Oswald deeply values friendship and loyalty. He intended to make Gilbert Nightray the next vessel for the Glen soul, a plan that was violently interrupted. He is historically blamed for instigating the Tragedy of Sablier, a catastrophic event that wiped a city from existence, though the truth of his role is far more complex and entangled with his feelings of loss and his desire to reclaim what was taken from him. In the end, he was killed by his best friend, Jack.

The third and final Glen is Leo, a young boy who was originally a servant and best friend to Elliot Nightray. Leo is an intelligent and deeply private person, hiding his unusual eyes, which resemble a endless spiraling void, behind thick glasses and a long fringe of hair. He is blunt, pragmatic, and not easily swayed by emotion. However, the death of Elliot shatters him, and he accepts the role of Glen to gain the power to change the world and prevent such tragedies. As Glen, he becomes more determined and unyielding, contracting with the formidable Chain Jabberwock. He seeks to destroy the Will of the Abyss, a goal inherited from his predecessors, though his motivation is born from personal grief. Over time, the souls of the previous Glens, particularly Levi's manipulative voice, speak to him and influence his actions. Eventually, he chooses a different path, working to safeguard the world alongside the core of the Abyss.

For the second Glen Oswald, notable abilities include the possession and command of multiple immensely powerful Chains, most famously the black-winged Jabberwock, as well as Raven, Owl, Dodo, and Gryphon. He is also capable of moving freely between the real world and the core of the Abyss. As the title passes from bearer to bearer, these Chains are also transferred to the new Glen. The soul-transfer process itself is a central ability of the title, allowing the will and memories of the Glen lineage to persist across generations and bodies, gradually overriding the host's original personality. The first Glen, Levi, orchestrated esoteric experiments involving the Abyss, demonstrating a profound, if dangerous, understanding of its nature. The third Glen, Leo, gains access to this accumulated power, with Jabberwock as his primary Chain, and also inherits the unique vision that allows him to perceive the Abyss's influence in the world.
