Description
Gihren Zabi is the eldest son of Degwin Sodo Zabi, the sovereign ruler of the Principality of Zeon. Born in UC 0044, Gihren was a highly gifted individual possessing an IQ of 240. From an early age, he was groomed for leadership, receiving an elite education that honed his formidable political instincts and strategic mind.

Gihren is defined by his ruthless ambition, lack of empathy, and immense skill as a public speaker. While outwardly espousing the ideology of Spacenoid liberation originally championed by Zeon Zum Deikun, Gihren transformed these beliefs into a radical doctrine of human supremacy. He advocated for a brutal form of eugenics, arguing that a "cleansing of the population" was necessary for humanity's progress and that the Spacenoids of Side 3 were the chosen people destined to rule over the Earthnoids. This messianic vision, however, served primarily as a justification for his own totalitarian control over the Earth Sphere. He was a master of propaganda, using his oratory to rally the citizens of Zeon with the famous salute "Sieg Zeon!" and to fuel their fervor for war.

In the story, Gihren serves as the Supreme Commander of Zeon's National Defense Force and the principal architect of the One Year War against the Earth Federation. He was responsible for masterminding some of the conflict's most devastating atrocities, including Operation British, which involved the gassing of a space colony's population before dropping it onto the Earth with catastrophic environmental consequences. To circumvent a treaty banning weapons of mass destruction, he commissioned the construction of the Solar Ray, a massive colony laser. His leadership style was characterized by an overconfidence in superior firepower and experimental "miracle" weapons to secure victory, a flaw that mirrored his dictatorial ambitions.

Gihren's key relationships were almost uniformly dysfunctional and politically calculated. He held a contemptuous rivalry with his equally ambitious sister, Kycilia, viewing her as a threat to his power. He belittled the waning authority of his father, Degwin, and considered his younger brothers, Dozle and Garma, to be less talented, using their sacrifices as propaganda tools to galvanize the nation. His relationship with his father deteriorated completely when Degwin, weary of the war, attempted to pursue peace negotiations with the Federation.

Over the course of the war, Gihren's development is marked by an escalating willingness to discard any restraint or familial bond to achieve his goals. In his ultimate act of ambition, he ordered the Solar Ray to fire on the peace negotiation fleet, killing both the Federation's General Revil and his own father, Degwin. This act sealed his fate. When Kycilia discovered he had committed patricide, she personally executed him during the final Battle of A Baoa Qu. His death led to a power vacuum and confusion in the Zeon chain of command, directly contributing to their defeat.

As a notable ability, Gihren was not a frontline soldier but a strategic and political powerhouse. His high intellect allowed him to orchestrate complex military campaigns and political purges, effectively turning the Principality of Zeon into a dictatorship where he held true power behind the throne of his figurehead father. While information on his role in Gundam Evolve specifically is limited, his character across the franchise consistently represents this archetype of the charismatic, intelligent, and utterly ruthless ideologue.
