Description
Rain Mikamura is a character from the Future Century portion of the Gundam universe who appears in the third episode of the animated short collection Gundam Evolve. She is a talented young woman who studied medicine at a colony university and is the daughter of the Gundam developer Dr. Mikamura. Raised in the Neo Japan space colony, she grew up alongside her childhood friend Domon Kasshu and serves as a member of the Neo Japan team staff and Domon's close partner and sole supporter.
Rain is kind yet clever and tough. She is a brilliant mechanic and doctor with scientific knowledge spanning medicine, engineering, and biology, and she assists her father with his work. She helps with the programming of Domon's Shining Gundam and takes part in testing the battle frame unit. She genuinely wants to help Domon search for his brother, though she often feels ignored by him, and she disapproves of the Neo Japan committee's methods of exploiting Domon's past. She remains loyal and devoted to Domon in spite of his hot-headed and single-minded attitude.
Her role in Gundam Evolve is a brief comedic confrontation. Domon is practicing Tai Chi with the God Gundam when Rain suddenly appears piloting the Rising Gundam and attacks him because he was away for two days. Domon insists he was only training, but Rain believes he was off chasing skirts rather than attending to his responsibilities, and the two fight. When Domon attempts to end the battle with the God Gundam's God Finger attack, Rain counters with the Rising Gundam's Rising Finger attack; the two techniques clash with immense power, and Rain's attack breaks through.
