Masaomi Oogami is a seventeen-year-old boy who appears in the anime Onmyou Taisenki. He arrives in the present day after having traveled from the Heian period, much like the protagonist Riku Tachibana. He initially presents himself as a friendly and knowledgeable ally, often riding a motor scooter and bringing food such as bowl meals to Riku and his friends. He teaches Riku the secrets of Onmyoudou, including the use of Tōjinfu, and provides guidance on how to fight as a Tōjinshi. Despite his easygoing and cheerful demeanor, he is a highly skilled combatant and belongs to the Shin-ryuu (Jin-ryuu) school, a third faction that operates outside the traditional Ten-ryuu and Chi-ryuu rivalry. His true motivations are tied to the Shin-ryuu’s goal of reviving the sealed entity Utsuho, which puts him in a complex position relative to the other characters. Over the course of the story, his interactions with Riku and others lead to personal development, as he grapples with his loyalties and the consequences of the Shin-ryuu’s actions. He is the contracted Tōjinshi of the Azure Dragon Kibachiyo, a cheerful and energetic shikigami who wields the spear Gekirin-ga. The bond between Masaomi and Kibachiyo mirrors the easygoing nature of their partnership. He also has history with other Shin-ryuu members such as Taizan, with whom he eventually comes into conflict. His abilities as a Tōjinshi are considerable, marked by his adept use of seals and combat strategy, making him a formidable presence in battle.
