Description
Captain Bravo is the public alias of Mamoru Sakimori, a high-ranking Alchemist Warrior who holds the position of Warrior Chief within the Alchemist Army. He also serves as the dormitory manager at Ginsei Private Academy, where the protagonist Kazuki Muto is a student.

Bravo is a tall, well-built man in his late twenties, standing 185 centimeters tall, with spiky black hair and blue eyes. He is most commonly seen wearing a distinctive silver coat and hat that cover his entire body except for his eyes. This outfit is not a simple costume but his Buso Renkin, a protective weapon known as Silver Skin.

His personality is a striking contrast of flamboyant enthusiasm and deep-seated seriousness. On the surface, Bravo is an energetic and passionate individual with a love for justice and a habit of exclaiming "Bravo" to show his approval. He approaches life and self-improvement with a gung-ho attitude, enthusiastically participates in various hobbies, and has no qualms about striking dramatic victory poses. This lighthearted demeanor, however, belies the gravity of the missions he undertakes. Beneath the showmanship lies a deeply principled warrior with a strong moral code. He believes that even his enemies have the right to fight for their own cause and will not try to change their minds, only asking if they are truly dedicated to their beliefs before engaging in battle.

The foundation of his character is a personal tragedy that occurred seven years before the main story. As a member of Team Shosei, Bravo was involved in a mission where an entire elementary school was slaughtered by homunculi, leaving only a young girl named Tokiko Tsumura as the sole survivor. Overwhelmed by guilt and shame for his failure to protect the innocent, Bravo discarded his real name, Mamoru Sakimori, believing he no longer had the right to use it. He publicly claims his name is a secret simply because it is "cooler that way," but in truth, the alias serves as a shield for his profound regret.

Bravo's role in the story is primarily that of a mentor and commanding officer. He takes Tokiko under his wing after the massacre and later becomes a crucial father figure and trainer to Kazuki, pushing him relentlessly to unlock his true potential as a warrior. His key relationships are defined by this protective, guiding nature. He shares a particularly strong bond with Kazuki, as the two have similar spirited and earnest approaches to fighting. This bond is severely tested when Kazuki undergoes Victorization, a transformation that turns him into a dangerous, uncontrollable being. The Alchemist Army orders Bravo to "re-exterminate" his own student. This mission puts immense pressure on his conscience, leading to several stalemate fights. Ultimately, Bravo abandons his orders, putting his faith in Kazuki to find a solution and finish himself before the transformation is complete.

As a combatant, Captain Bravo is a formidable physical powerhouse. His Buso Renkin, Silver Skin, is unique in that it is purely defensive. It manifests as a full suit of indestructible, regenerating metal tiles that can shield him from any assault, even allowing him to survive in the vacuum of space or withstand massive explosions. Because his weapon provides no offensive capability, all of his attacks are generated by his own tremendous physical strength. He can unleash devastating rapid-fire punches, powerful kicks like the Meteor Bravo Kick, and strikes strong enough to part the ocean with a single blow. He names all his techniques, including Bravo Punch, Bravo Lash, and the seemingly frivolous Bravo Kiss, as a testament to his enthusiastic fighting spirit.

He also possesses a second Buso Renkin, which he calls Another Type. This is a variation of his Silver Skin that can be launched as a net of metal tiles to constrict and restrain an opponent. While useful for capturing enemies or nullifying energy-draining abilities, this net moves in a straight line and cannot be controlled with precision once fired. To compensate for his lack of offensive weaponry, Bravo relies on his own martial arts mastery and sheer physical power. He develops a series of signature moves that showcase his incredible strength, with his battle against Kazuki being considered one of the most impressive displays of power in the series.
