Description
Dinn Dee is the captain of the 10th Platoon within the Military Arts Department of the academy city of Zuellni. He is a young man of nineteen years of age, easily recognized by his skinhead hairstyle and piercing purple eyes. His typical attire consists of the standard Military Arts uniform, a blue and white top worn over a cream shirt and a red tie, but in battle, he dons a red combat uniform that is characteristic of his platoon. He also wears cartilage earrings, which are not merely decorative but serve as a symbol of a solemn vow.
In the past, Dinn, along with his closest friends Sharnid Elipton and Dalshena Che Matelna, known as Shena, formed a highly effective and celebrated trio. Their shared dream was to protect Zuellni, a promise they made to their former platoon captain after a devastating loss to the city of Gandoweria left that captain dejected. As a symbol of this vow, Dinn took to wearing the former captain's cartilage earring. However, their friendship began to fracture as Sharnid grew to believe that their vow was not entirely genuine or honest, leading him to leave the 10th Platoon. Following Sharnid's departure, the platoon's overall performance and ranking dropped dramatically. Dinn was so affected by this that he challenged Sharnid to a duel, a confrontation in which Sharnid refused to fight back.
Driven by a desire to restore his platoon's former glory and perhaps to prove his own strength, Dinn became desperate. He turned to an illegal substance known as Overload to artificially enhance his combat abilities, hoping to overthrow the top platoons. This decision set him on a collision course with Layfon Alseif of the 17th Platoon during an inter-platoon match. Despite the power boost from Overload, Dinn was soundly defeated by Layfon. The defeat triggered the awakening of a Haikizoku, a Fallen One, within him, causing him to lose control and enter a berserk state. He was subsequently captured by a mercenary named Haia, who sought to extract the Haikizoku from his body. It was only Shena's heartfelt plea, telling him that everything was over, that allowed the Haikizoku to leave him. The physical and psychological toll of using Overload proved to be catastrophic. Dinn was left crippled and brain damaged, barely able to function, a shadow of his former self.
As a Military Artist, Dinn Dee wielded a unique DITE in the form of a pair of gloves. These weapons allowed him to fire projectiles by channeling his Kei, the life energy used by Military Artists in combat. His role in the story is primarily that of a tragic antagonist and a cautionary figure. His fall from grace highlights the immense pressure students face to succeed and the dire consequences of seeking power through forbidden means. His key relationships are central to his character, defined by a deep but broken bond with his former comrades, Shena and Sharnid. His fate serves as a turning point for others, forcing Sharnid to confront his past and compelling Shena to accept the end of their shared dream.
