Description
Milly Ashford is a supporting character in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2, serving as the student council president of Ashford Academy and the granddaughter of its superintendent. She comes from the Ashford family, a once-respected Britannian noble house that fell from grace following the assassination of Empress Marianne, whom the family had supported. Milly is fully aware that Lelouch vi Britannia, the exiled prince, is living under the alias Lelouch Lamperouge at her school, a secret she keeps. She is outwardly lively, playful, and energetic, often orchestrating extravagant school-wide events and parties to lift the spirits of her classmates. Her mischief is calculated, and she frequently teases her friends about their personal lives, such as Shirley’s hidden feelings for Lelouch, but she does so without malice. Beneath this lighthearted exterior, Milly is deeply perceptive and caring, serving as a trusted confidante who offers wise and tactful advice to those in need. She is driven by a desire to restore her family’s noble status, which leads her family to arrange a marriage for her with Earl Lloyd Asplund, a brilliant but eccentric Knightmare engineer. Although she harbors secret romantic feelings for Lelouch, she accepts her duty, though she later breaks off the engagement. In the second season, Milly intentionally fails her examinations to remain on campus with her friends; she eventually earns enough credits to graduate and becomes a weather forecaster on local television. Her key relationships include her close bond with the other student council members—Shirley Fenette, Rivalz Cardemonde, and Nina Einstein—as well as her protective yet playful dynamic with Lelouch. She also shows unexpected emotional support to Kallen Kozuki, acknowledging the weight of her difficult home life. Milly has no combat or supernatural abilities, but her notable strengths lie in social acumen, leadership, and an ability to create levity in dark times, making her a stabilizing presence in the lives of those around her.
