TV-Series
Description
Chibiusa, also known as Princess Usagi Small Lady Serenity, is the future daughter of Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion from the 30th century Crystal Tokyo. She travels back in time to the 20th century seeking help for her future home, and later returns to train as a Sailor Guardian under the name Sailor Chibi Moon. Despite being over 900 years old chronologically, she appears and behaves like a child, as the Silver Crystal grants immortality and halts physical aging. In the anime, she is depicted as being in elementary school, around second to sixth grade throughout her appearances.

Personality-wise, Chibiusa is a complex blend of childish innocence and surprising emotional maturity. Initially, she can be perceived as spoiled, bratty, and hostile, particularly toward her past mother, Usagi. This behavior is partly rooted in her background; before awakening her own powers, she was teased in the 30th century for not being a Sailor Guardian, leading to insecurity and loneliness. She often bickers with the past Usagi, acting more like a competitive sister than a daughter, yet she secretly admires her and the two share a deep, unbreakable bond. While she can be precocious and loves pulling pranks, she is fundamentally kind-hearted, outgoing, and deeply values her friendships. Her greatest dream is to one day become a true and beautiful lady.

Chibiusa's primary motivation throughout the series is to grow and mature into her role as the princess of Crystal Tokyo and a capable Sailor Guardian. She seeks to be independent and a perfectionist, often trying to do everything on her own, but gradually learns the value of relying on others and what true maturity means. Her actions are driven by a desire to protect her family, her friends, and the future. In the SuperS season, her role becomes central, as she is the one who forms a special bond with Pegasus, also known as Helios, the guardian of the legendary Golden Crystal. This connection makes her the key to confronting the Dead Moon Circus, placing her at the heart of the story's conflict.

She shares a unique and foundational relationship with her parents. In the past, she displays a strong attachment to her father, Mamoru Chiba, calling him by the affectionate nickname "Mamo-chan," much to Usagi's jealousy. Her relationship with her past mother, Usagi, is characterized by constant, comedic bickering, yet it is underlaid with profound love and protection. Among her most significant friendships is the one with Hotaru Tomoe, the future Sailor Saturn. Chibiusa befriends the lonely Hotaru without hesitation, and this unconditional friendship proves crucial, as Chibiusa refuses to believe Hotaru is evil, ultimately saving her. She is also very close to Sailor Pluto, who acts as a guardian and confidant to her in the future, and she has a grey kitten named Diana, the daughter of Luna and Artemis. Her relationship with Helios, also known as Pegasus, evolves into a deep, romantic bond; he hides within her pure heart and the two develop strong feelings for one another, sharing a kiss after the defeat of Queen Nehelenia.

Chibiusa shows significant development over the course of the story. When she is first introduced in the R season, she is lonely, insecure, and easily manipulated, even being transformed into the villainous Black Lady by the Wiseman. However, as she gains confidence in her own abilities as Sailor Chibi Moon and forms strong friendships, she matures considerably. By the time of the SuperS season, she has become more level-headed, empathetic, and courageous, taking on a leadership-like role in her connection with Pegasus. Though the anime adaptation in SuperS has been criticized for focusing on her to the detriment of other characters, her personal growth as a more mature and reliable individual is a clear part of her arc.

As Sailor Chibi Moon, her abilities grow alongside her. Her primary weapon and transformation item is the Chibi Moon Compact, which she uses with the call "Moon Crisis, Make Up" to access her Super form. Her signature attack is Pink Sugar Heart Attack, where she creates a shower of pink hearts to overwhelm her enemies. Other notable attacks include Supersonic Waves, a high-pitched scream weapon; Twinkle Yell, which she uses to summon Pegasus; and Moon Gorgeous Meditation, a more powerful team attack used in the SuperS movie. She also possesses a powerful, all-purpose magical tool called Luna-P, a small pink orb that can transform into a variety of objects, such as a hypnosis device or a communication tool.
