Kae Araki

Description
Kae Araki is a Japanese voice actress born on November 6, 1963, in Osaka Prefecture, Japan. Due to her father's job, she moved frequently during her childhood, relocating seven times before graduating from high school. From a young age, she was drawn to the performing arts after being influenced by television, which led her to pursue a career in theater.

After completing high school in Hokkaido, she moved to Tokyo to become a stage actress. She enrolled in the training school for the Tokyo Actor's Consumer's Cooperative Society (Haikyō). Her entry into voice acting occurred when a voice actor agency manager discovered her during a stage performance. She made her anime debut with a small role in the series Maison Ikkoku in 1986. Early in her career, she was affiliated with Ken Production, where her work focused more on hosting and reporting, before transferring to Arts Vision, which allowed her to concentrate on animation. She was later affiliated with 81 Produce from August 2003 to May 2010, after which she became a freelancer, also changing the spelling of her stage name from 荒木 香恵 to 荒木 香衣, though the pronunciation "Araki Kae" remained the same.

A pivotal moment in her career came with the Sailor Moon series. In 1993, she temporarily replaced Kotono Mitsuishi, who was hospitalized, to voice the lead character Usagi Tsukino / Sailor Moon for several episodes. Her performance during this period was well-received, and she was subsequently cast in the role of Chibiusa / Sailor Chibi Moon for the series' sequel seasons without needing to audition. This role became one of her most iconic and enduring performances. In 1995, she landed her first leading role in a television anime as Miaka Yūki in Fushigi Yûgi.

Throughout her career, Araki has built an extensive filmography across anime, video games, and dubbing. Some of her most notable anime roles include Hikari Yagami in the Digimon Adventure series, Hilde Schbeiker in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Ai Shinozaki in Corrector Yui, and Noriko Nishikawa in Urayasu Tekkin Kazoku. In the realm of video games, she is widely recognized as the voice of Felicia from the Darkstalkers series. Her filmography also includes numerous other roles, such as Jacqueline Simone in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, Juju Koo Shunamul and Peppec in Doki Doki Densetsu Mahōjin Guru Guru, Simone in Ashita no Nadja, and Koma in Tama and Friends, among many others.

In addition to her performance work, Araki has dedicated time to teaching and mentoring new generations of voice actors at various vocational schools in Japan. Her contributions to major franchises have cemented her place as a respected figure in the anime industry. She is known to have maintained a close friendship with fellow voice actresses, including Kotono Mitsuishi and Konami Yoshida, whom she mentored while they were in training.
