Description
Yoshiko Tanaka, wife of protagonist Ouji Tanaka and mother to their son Gen, transitions from her past as a devoted fan of Ouji’s heavy metal band Black Heaven to domestic life after marrying him upon her pregnancy. Her journey centers on reconciling Ouji’s revived musical ambitions with familial obligations. Over years of homemaking, she methodically removes his instruments and records, framing these acts as practical choices over sentimental attachments to their cramped living space. Mistaking Ouji’s secretive guitar sessions—which unknowingly trigger an alien weapon—for infidelity, her confrontations expose anxieties over household harmony, rooted in protective instincts rather than resentment.

Occasional guilt emerges as Yoshiko reflects on suppressing Ouji’s artistic identity, a tension mirrored in her rebellious history as a groupie. A turning point arrives when she gifts him a red Gibson Flying V, signaling cautious acknowledgment of music’s enduring role in his life. This compromise balances her longing for stability with acceptance of his dual commitments.

Her dynamic with Gen underscores the challenges of parenting amid marital strain, while interactions at a high school reunion and with neighbors emphasize societal expectations of her as a spouse. The story juxtaposes her current pragmatism with her free-spirited youth, underscoring sacrifices made for family without romanticizing their consequences.
