Description
Camille, also known as Sailor Mini Bunny, is a central figure in the Sailor Moon SuperS anime season. Her true identity is Chibiusa Tsukino, the future daughter of Bunny Tsukino (Sailor Moon) and Mamoru Chiba (Tuxedo Mask), who travels from the 30th century to the present day. In the French adaptation of the anime, she is presented as Bunny's cousin rather than her daughter, though her fundamental role remains unchanged.
Initially, Camille arrives from the futuristic Crystal Tokyo with a mission to obtain the legendary Silver Crystal, which she believes will help save her mother, Neo-Queen Serenity. Her first appearance is marked by mischievous and bratty behavior, including interrupting a romantic moment between her parents and even pointing a toy gun at Bunny to demand the Crystal. Despite this troublesome introduction, she eventually comes to live with Bunny and her family in the present as a relative. Over time, her personality reveals more depth: while she can be capricious and annoying, she also displays moments of genuine kindness, adorableness, and surprising strength, reflecting her dual nature as both a child and a warrior-in-training.
Beyond her personal mission, Camille is driven by a deep desire for friendship and belonging. In her search for loyal companions, she finds a best friend in Olivia Tomoe (Hotaru Tomoe/Sailor Saturn). During the SuperS season, she takes on a particularly significant role, becoming a primary character alongside Sailor Moon. Her motivations shift as she develops a profound emotional connection with Pegasus, a mystical unicorn, and her love for him becomes a key element driving the story forward. Her dreams are simple and relatable: she wishes to grow up and become a lady.
Throughout her character development, Camille undergoes a significant transformation, most notably during the Black Moon arc. She is manipulated by the Black Moon Kingdom and transforms into the villainous Black Lady, who seeks to destroy the universe by merging the past and future Silver Crystals. This dark path reaches a climax when Sailor Pluto sacrifices her own life to stop the catastrophe. Witnessing the death of her friend causes Black Lady to weep, and her tears of sorrow awaken her own Silver Crystal, allowing her to purify herself and become the true Sailor Mini Moon. This event solidifies her growth from a troubled child into a legitimate Sailor Guardian. In her everyday life, she enjoys collecting rabbit-themed items and eating pudding, while disliking carrots and grammar studies.
As a Sailor Guardian, Camille transforms into Sailor Mini Bunny. Her abilities are notably inconsistent; she does not possess overwhelmingly powerful attacks, and her powers often work only half the time, reflecting her status as a young and inexperienced fighter. She is frequently accompanied by Luna P, a small, black, sphere-shaped magical device that she can transform into various objects to assist her. Despite her unreliable combat skills, her courage and emotional growth make her a crucial member of the team, especially in the fight against the forces of the Dead Moon Circus during the SuperS season.
