Description
Fish Eye is a member of the Amazon Trio, a group of antagonists who serve the Dead Moon Circus in their mission to find the enigmatic Pegasus. His origin is that of an animal, specifically a fish, who was transformed into a human-like form by the Amazoness Quartet using magical Amazon Stones. This artificial creation is a core aspect of his identity, as he and his companions are not born human but are circus pets given sentient, humanoid bodies to carry out their mission.

In terms of appearance, Fish Eye is an androgynous figure with a slender build and a face that is delicate and more feminine in cast. He has long, wavy blue hair that transitions into turquoise toward the ends, often tied in a loose ponytail. Distinctive features include a stone embedded in his forehead, pointed elf-like ears, and two colored streaks on his left cheek. He typically wears a puffy, light blue jumpsuit with a deep neckline and matching high-heeled boots. One unique physical trait is his hands, which are depicted as webbed and scaly, a subtle remnant of his original piscine form.

Personality wise, Fish Eye is the most flamboyant and elegant member of the Amazon Trio. He exhibits a theatrical and sometimes vain demeanor, referring to himself with terms like lovely angel. Unlike his partners Tiger's Eye and Hawk's Eye, who target women, Fish Eye exclusively shows romantic interest in men. He frequently uses disguises, often presenting as a beautiful and ethereal woman to get close to his targets, though he is capable of presenting as an androgynous male when the situation calls for it. Despite his vain tendencies, he is also sensitive and deeply insecure, largely due to the fact that he and his companions lack true dreams of their own, being artificial beings. He also has an intense, almost phobic aversion to cats, a trait that is played for comedic effect and stems from his nature as a former fish.

The primary motivation for Fish Eye is survival and the desire for a genuine existence. He and his partners are ordered by their superior, Zirconia, to find Pegasus, who hides within the beautiful dreams of humans. Fish Eye pursues his mission by seducing his targets, creating illusions alongside his Lemures monsters, and extracting their Dream Mirrors to search for Pegasus. However, his motivations become more complex when he develops a genuine infatuation with Mamoru Chiba, also known as Tuxedo Mask. He becomes a self-declared romantic rival to Usagi Tsukino, and this crush forces him to confront feelings of loneliness and a deep yearning for a dream to call his own.

Within the story of Sailor Moon SuperS, Fish Eye serves as a recurring obstacle for the Sailor Guardians. His role shifts from a straightforward villain to a more tragic figure after learning the truth of his existence. He and his companions discover that if they fail to find Pegasus, they will revert to their original animal forms and perish. This revelation, coupled with his unrequited feelings for Mamoru, leads to a crisis of identity. He experiences despair upon realizing he possesses no Dream Mirror of his own, confirming he has no beautiful dream.

Key relationships define his arc. His dynamic with his fellow Trio members, Tiger's Eye and Hawk's Eye, is one of bickering comrades, though they frequently tease or mock his effeminate nature and preferences. His relationship with Mamoru is central to his development; his initial predatory pursuit transforms into a genuine, desperate desire for connection, and he ultimately cannot bring himself to harm Mamoru. Furthermore, an unexpected kindness from Usagi, who shelters him from the rain not knowing he is an enemy, profoundly impacts him, leading him to question his mission and envy her strength and dreams.

Fish Eye undergoes significant character development, transitioning from a deceptive villain to a redeemed figure. When the Amazon Trio are ultimately betrayed by the Dead Moon Circus and set to be destroyed, Fish Eye acts against his orders. In a moment of defiance born from his newfound understanding of human kindness, he and Tiger's Eye sacrifice their magical orbs to save Usagi, whom the circus had captured. Following this sacrifice, they revert to their original animal forms. However, in a final act of compassion, Pegasus uses his power to resurrect and purify the Trio, granting them true human forms and their own Dream Mirrors. Fish Eye is thus allowed to live peacefully in Pegasus's dream world, finally possessing the beautiful dream he had always longed for.

Notable abilities include shapeshifting between his humanoid form and his original animal form, a fish. In battle, he can summon a Lemures, a monster that serves him; one notable Lemures he uses, Tsunawataro, forces opponents to walk a dangerous tightrope. He also demonstrates the power to create illusions, hypnotize people, and trap victims within mirrors or underwater dreamscapes. As his original form is a fish, he naturally has an affinity for water and water-based attacks.
