TV-Series
Description
Leon Mishima is a key antagonist in the Macross Frontier television series and its film adaptations. He is a young, ambitious soldier who originally served under the New United Nations Spacy and was later dispatched to the Frontier fleet as the chief of staff and right-hand aide to President Howard Glass. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the fleet’s anti-Vajra countermeasures and controlled information related to the alien threat, including concealing details about the destruction of the 117th large-scale research vessel eleven years prior. Despite his calm and composed demeanor, Mishima harbors a deep hunger for power and has few scruples when it comes to achieving his goals. He secretly allies with Grace O’Connor, though his ultimate aim is to become the sole ruler of the Frontier fleet. His personal ambition drives him to arrange the assassination of President Glass, first through a failed attempt and later by personally ambushing and shooting him during a Vajra attack on Island 1. Taking advantage of the ensuing chaos, Mishima assumes the role of the fleet’s highest civilian representative and becomes the fifth president of Macross Frontier. He is initially engaged to Catherine Glass, the president’s daughter, but he coldly breaks off the engagement immediately after her father’s death. As president, Mishima launches a risky invasion of the Vajra homeworld, but his schemes are ultimately exposed when the crew of the Macross Quarter returns with evidence of his treason, leading to his immediate arrest during the final battle. Mishima is characterized by his strategic mind, ability to remain unreadable, and willingness to manipulate others for his own advancement, making him a dangerous and calculating figure within the story.
