Description
Hashizo Kato is a central character in the anime Ai Shite Knight, recognized as a young boy whose real name is Hideki. He was given the name Hashizo by his older brother, Go Kato, after he came to live with him. Hashizo is actually Go's half-brother, born as the son of their father and his mistress. Following the death of their parents in a car accident, Go, though still very young himself, took on the responsibility of raising Hashizo, and the two have lived together ever since. Hashizo has a birthday of July 7.
In terms of personality, Hashizo is depicted as a very responsible little boy. Despite his young age, he demonstrates a sense of maturity, perhaps born from the circumstances of his family life. Because his older brother Go is an aspiring musician and the lead singer of the rock band Bee Hive, Go is often busy with practices and performances. As a result, Hashizo spends a significant amount of time alone. His primary companion during these times is his loyal and intelligent cat, Juliano, who is his best friend. Hashizo's role in the story becomes more defined when he meets the main protagonist, Yaeko Yakko Mitamura. He quickly forms a strong attachment to her, and the okonomiyaki restaurant where she works, the Mambo, becomes like a second home to him. This connection to Yakko is a key motivation for Hashizo, as he comes to rely on her warmth and care, which contrasts with the solitude he often experiences.
Hashizo's primary relationship is with his brother, Go. Go is the central parental figure in his life, having sacrificed his own youth to care for Hashizo. Their bond is a core element of his background. Hashizo's life changes with the introduction of Yakko, who becomes a maternal and nurturing presence for him. Through his attachment to Yakko, he indirectly becomes a bridge between her and Go, helping to intertwine their lives. Development-wise, Hashizo transitions from a lonely boy who spends most of his time with his cat to a more socially connected child who finds a family unit with Go and Yakko. While specific notable abilities are not highlighted as a major focus, his resourcefulness and ability to manage being alone while maintaining his cheerful disposition are key character traits. He is depicted as having blue hair and blue eyes.
