Description
Natalia L. K. Lanvaldear, whose full name is Natalia Luzu Kimlasca-Lanvaldear, is the princess of the Kingdom of Kimlasca-Lanvaldear and a central protagonist in the story. She was raised as the only child of King Ingobert the Sixth and grew up beloved by her people, fully embracing the idea that nobility exists to serve the needs of its subjects. Her outward demeanor is initially strict and somewhat bossy, especially toward Luke fon Fabre, her childhood friend and betrothed, whom she often scolds for his spoiled attitude and neglect of noble duties. However, this demanding exterior masks a deeply compassionate and devoted nature. Natalia is fiercely loyal to her kingdom and its citizens, frequently mingling with commoners and personally involving herself in public works rather than remaining isolated in the castle.

Her motivations are rooted in a promise she made long ago with Asch, a replica of Luke, to transform Kimlasca into a land where no one is poor and war never occurs. This promise drives her humanitarian efforts and her unwavering determination to better the world. She is also deeply attached to Luke, holding onto the memory of a childhood promise they shared, even after Luke loses his memory and no longer recalls their engagement. Her attachment is not possessive but rather stems from a sincere hope that he will remember and that their bond can be rebuilt.

In the story, Natalia first joins the party by insisting on accompanying Luke, and she quickly proves herself as a capable fighter and healer. She wields a bow in combat and is also proficient in curative magic, making her a versatile support character. Her role expands as she becomes a key figure in the struggle between Kimlasca and the neighboring Malkuth Empire, often acting as a voice of reason and principle. A major turning point occurs when Grand Maestro Mohs brands her and Luke as impostors, leading to a death sentence. The common people of Baticul, knowing her true character, rally to protect her by blocking the soldiers’ path, demonstrating the genuine love and trust she has earned. Later, it is revealed that her biological father is the Oracle Knight Largo, and her birth name was Meryl. This revelation challenges her sense of identity, but she ultimately remains the princess in spirit, and King Ingobert himself affirms that she is his daughter regardless of blood.

Throughout the narrative, Natalia undergoes notable development. She begins as a somewhat rigid noblewoman who tries to enforce propriety, but she matures into a strong leader who takes personal responsibility for peace and justice. After the climactic events at the Absorption Gate, she spends six months traveling across the continent of Auldrant, mediating between Malkuth and Kimlasca and helping rebuild war-torn communities. Her personality also includes lighter quirks: she is an appallingly bad cook, highly gullible, and has a fondness for ghost stories, which contrasts with her otherwise composed and commanding presence. In terms of abilities, she is a skilled archer and healer, and her leadership qualities make her an effective diplomat and coordinator of relief efforts. Her relationships with other characters are defined by mutual respect: she treats Luke with a mixture of exasperation and deep care, shares a solemn bond of purpose with Asch, and maintains a friendly dynamic with the rest of the party, while her relationship with her adoptive father, King Ingobert, is that of a loving daughter and a monarch who values her above lineage.
