Description
Diaz Ragu, also known by his fighting name the Black Wing, is considered one of the most formidable fighters the kingdom of Ashliana has ever produced. He is the older brother of Elle Ragu, the 59th Sevaar known as Shadow Skill, and a Vaar of Kurda who later becomes a master weaponsmith. Diaz has thirsted for strength since he was a boy, earning a fearsome reputation during a war as a cold-blooded and relentless fighter who did not discriminate between his opponents. During this time, he fought alongside Kai Shinks and Vy Low, who would go on to become the 56th and 57th Sevaars, forging deep and lasting friendships with both of them.

At the age of sixteen, Diaz was on the path to becoming the 58th Sevaar when a rare disease claimed the lives of his parents. When his younger sister, Elle, also fell victim to the same illness, Diaz made the pivotal decision to set aside his own ambitions. Unable to watch his sister die, he took on dangerous work as a mercenary to earn enough money to buy the medicine that would save her. He succeeded in his mission, and Elle's life was spared. However, the toll of the extra battles he fought severely weakened his body, forcing him to abandon his dream of becoming a Sevaar. Consequently, the title passed to Kain Phalanx. Feeling responsible for her brother's sacrificed future, Elle resolved to take his place and, years later, earned the title of the 59th Sevaar, Shadow Skill.

Following this, Diaz retreated from the warrior's life to his hometown of Blorahan, living quietly as a blacksmith. He devoted himself to crafting weapons, most notably his signature Black Wing boomerangs, as his physical condition continued to deteriorate, with his eyesight slowly fading. Despite his weakened state, he remained a figure of immense power. This drew the unwanted attention of the nation of Solfon, which sought to capture him and force him to forge weapons and fight on their behalf. His refusal led to the Battle of Blorahan, also known as the Lightning Battle. Before these events, he reunited with Elle and was introduced to her adopted brother, Gau Ban. Diaz took an immediate liking to Gau, treating him as family and entrusting him with the task of protecting Elle.

Diaz Ragu is characterized by a quiet strength and a profound sense of responsibility, demonstrated by his ultimate sacrifice for his sister. He is protective and deeply caring towards his family, showing a paternal side towards both Elle and Gau. Despite the bitterness of his fate, he accepts his condition with a certain philosophy, once refusing medicine that could delay his deterioration, believing that everything happens for a reason. His pride as a warrior remains intact, and he threatens even Vy Low, the powerful Scarface, when he believes Gau is being put in harm's way to be forcibly strengthened.

His most significant relationship is with his sister, Elle, for whom he gave up everything and who continues to feel immense guilt over his sacrifice. He also shares a bond of deep, lasting friendship with the high-level Sevaars Kai Shinks and Vy Low, who visit him and treat him as an equal. His relationship with Gau Ban is that of a surrogate older brother; he gives Gau his prized Black Wing boomerang as a protective talisman and offers him crucial guidance and moral support.

As the series progresses, Diaz's failing health forces him to live a secluded life, but he is drawn back into the conflict to protect Kurda. When the warrior G attacks the city, Diaz chooses to make a comeback, volunteering to fight as a Vaar. His final act is a battle against Darkness, an entity sent to teach Gau the fear of death. Knowing his time is near, Diaz puts all of his remaining strength into the fight. Though he wins, his body finally succumbs to its accumulated injuries and he dies shortly after. In recognition of his greatness, he is posthumously bestowed the title of The Sword of Ashlianna, the highest honor granted by the Holy City. Later, it is revealed that his soul was sealed into his Black Eye and eventually restored, allowing him to return as an angelic figure to give Gau the courage needed to win a final, decisive battle before disappearing once his mission was complete.

Even in his weakened and deteriorating state, Diaz Ragu remained an immensely powerful warrior. His combat prowess was legendary, and he was known for his strategic mind, favoring a defensive approach that allowed him to bring out the best in those around him. His signature weapon and the source of his nickname, the Black Wing, is a steel boomerang that he wielded with expert skill. In his final battle, he demonstrated a technique that sacrificed his own body to exploit every possible advantage against his opponent, showcasing a level of transcendent skill that could only be achieved when the question of life and death became irrelevant.
