Description
Arashi Amamiya is a supporting character in the anime, introduced as a genius magician who achieved the remarkable feat of being the first Japanese magician to win three consecutive victories in world magic competitions. His past is deeply intertwined with the protagonist, Kirari Tsukishima, as they were childhood friends. Before moving away to Osaka, he proposed to Kirari, though she did not understand the significance of the gesture at the time.
Arashi possesses a flamboyant and theatrical personality, which is amplified by his distinct Kansai dialect, a reflection of the time he spent living in Osaka. His most defining trait is his intense, obsessive affection for Kirari. This fixation manifests in exaggerated physical reactions, such as suffering nosebleeds whenever he is near her or looks at her. He holds a delusional belief that he and Kirari made a childhood marriage promise, and his primary motivation upon returning to her life is to make her abandon her career as an idol to fulfill this supposed pledge.
His role in the story is that of an antagonist and a rival, frequently interfering with Kirari's professional life. He uses his skills as a magician to sabotage her performances, often by summoning sea creatures like fish and turtles to cause chaos. In one notable instance, he used hypnosis on a director to change a drama script, aiming to steal Kirari’s first kiss for himself. His antics put him in direct conflict with the members of SHIPS, particularly Hiroto Kazama, with whom he shares a combative rivalry. Despite his talent, he is often viewed by other skilled magicians, like Marco Cappuccino, as being a third-rate performer.
While initially a pure obstacle, Arashi undergoes a degree of character development. After witnessing Kirari’s genuine hard work and dedication to her career as an idol, he ceases his attempts to force her into retirement and decides to focus on his own path as a magician. Regarding his abilities, Arashi is a highly proficient stage magician. His specialties are theatrical and nature-based, with a quirky preference for summoning seafood and marine life, controlling waves, and manipulating seaweed to change movement paths. He is almost never seen without his cape, considering it his personal symbol, and wears it even while swimming. He has green eyes and black hair.
