Description
Captain Kurohige is a character who appears as an antagonist in the anime series Rockman.EXE Beast and its sequel, Rockman.EXE Beast+. He is the operator of the NetNavi DiveMan.EXE and the partner in crime of another operator named Chirol, who controls CircusMan.EXE. Unlike many characters in the series, Kurohige is a native of the parallel world known as Beyondard and has no known Earth counterpart.

In terms of background, Kurohige is first seen living in Beyondard, where he and Chirol administer a castle that serves as the control center for a dam. From this position, they blackmail the village located at the dam's foot by controlling their water supply and imprison anyone who resists their authority. This initial scheme establishes him as someone who abuses power for personal gain. He initially works for the army of the Cyber Beast Glaga, taking orders from a Zoano DarkMan. Later, he and Chirol are hired by the Beyondard version of Dr. Wily to locate the powerful entity known as Trill, a mission they successfully complete by capturing Trill during a conflict between the armies of Glaga and the opposing Cyber Beast Falzer. After this event, they attempt to escape in an aerial vehicle, but a bomb forces them to crash-land on Earth, the primary setting of the larger series.

The personality of Captain Kurohige is that of a selfish, cruel, and arrogant villain. He is willing to terrorize a village by holding their water supply hostage and shows little concern for the well-being of others, focusing instead on his own schemes and survival. While his actions in Rockman.EXE Beast are those of a serious and threatening antagonist who works for powerful forces, his role shifts in Rockman.EXE Beast+. Stranded on Earth, he and Chirol become more bumbling and comedic in their villainy. Their plans devolve into stealing toys and other objects to build their own Copyroids, low-quality robotic bodies for their NetNavis, and their schemes are repeatedly foiled by the main characters, leading to several humiliating defeats. His motivations are primarily self-serving, seeking wealth, power, and ultimately revenge against those who thwart him, particularly the protagonist Netto Hikari and his Navi, Rockman.

Kurohige's most significant relationship is with his partner Chirol. They are consistently depicted as a duo, working together in all their criminal endeavors from their time at the dam to their misadventures on Earth. His key relationship with a powerful figure is with Dr. Wily of Beyondard, who hires him for the mission to capture Trill. On Earth, he and Chirol encounter the Earth's Dr. Wily, but he refuses to help them, leading Kurohige and Chirol to instead steal prototype Synchro Chips in an attempt to gain the power of Cross Fusion for themselves.

Throughout the story, Captain Kurohige undergoes a notable change in his role as an antagonist. He begins as a capable and menacing figure working for a major army, controlling a dam and acting as a jailer for a princess-like character named Iris. However, after being transported to Earth, his development turns toward a more comedic and less competent villain. His attempts to create Copyroids fail due to their low quality, and his use of stolen Synchro Chips backfires, causing him and Chirol to be trapped in the Cyber World rather than achieving powerful Cross Fusion forms. At the end of his appearances, he is not destroyed but is instead sentenced to work at an aquarium by Dr. Wily to learn the rules of the world, a fate that is presented as a comedic comeuppance for a man who once ran an aquarium as a criminal operation. He continues to swear revenge, but his plans are consistently portrayed as futile.

Captain Kurohige possesses several notable abilities. As the operator of DiveMan.EXE, he is capable of merging with his NetNavi to become C.F. DiveMan (Cross Fusion DiveMan), a process that combines the human operator with their Navi for enhanced power and abilities within the real world or cyber world. This process is shown to be possible even with imperfect technology, such as the prototype Reverse Synchro Chips he steals, which had the unintended side effect of sending the user into the cyber world rather than bringing the Navi out. His resourcefulness, while often used for petty crime on Earth, also represents an ability to adapt to new and unfamiliar situations, even if his plans are ultimately unsuccessful.
