Description
Higure Hamitaro, also commonly known by the name variant Higure Yamitaro, is a recurring human character in the Rockman.EXE anime continuity, including his appearance in Rockman.EXE Beast+. He is a man in his early thirties who operates a small battle chip shop located in a busy commercial district of ACDC Town, a business he continues to run during the events of Beast+. His defining characteristic is an all-consuming passion for battle chips, particularly those that are rare or difficult to obtain. This obsession is so central to his identity that he is often referred to by the nickname Chip Otaku. His knowledge of chips, their functions, and their value is exceptionally broad and deep, making him a useful source of information for Lan and his friends when they need specific battle chips or technical advice.

In terms of personality, Higure is fundamentally a kind and well-meaning individual who generally wishes the best for others, though his enthusiasm for his hobby can lead him to talk at length about chips without realizing his audience has lost interest. He is not typically portrayed as a brave or assertive person, often coming across as a bit of a pushover who lacks courage in dangerous situations. However, he has shown the capacity for significant action when someone he cares about is in peril. One of his most persistent personal motivations is his long-standing romantic interest in Mariko, the schoolteacher of the protagonist Netto Hikari. Higure makes consistent, though largely unsuccessful, attempts to win her affection, a pursuit that puts him in a friendly rivalry with another character, Masa, whom he dislikes for always getting in the way of his chances with her.

Higure's role in the story is primarily that of a supporting character and a merchant. While his early appearances in the broader series depicted him engaging in questionable, even criminal, activities to acquire rare chips, he recognized the error of his ways and reformed, choosing to run a legitimate business. From that point on, his role shifted to that of a reliable, if eccentric, ally. He provides a contrast to the main characters as a civilian whose interests are commercial and romantic rather than heroic. His relationships are defined by his unrequited love for Mariko, his irritation with his rival Masa, and his cordial, helpful interactions with the main cast, who visit his shop. While there is little specific information on his development within the abbreviated Beast+ series alone, his overall arc across the franchise shows a clear reformation from a chip-obsessed borderline antagonist to a law-abiding shopkeeper and comedic relief figure.

Higure does not operate a NetNavi and thus has no direct combat abilities in the cyber world. His notable abilities are entirely practical and human-centric. His expertise lies in his encyclopedic knowledge of battle chips, including their locations, effects, and combinations. This expertise, combined with his ownership of a chip shop, makes him a vital resource for procuring rare and powerful chips that the main characters need for their battles. In essence, his value is as a supplier and information broker, not as a fighter, though his passion for the subject is so intense that it can be considered a unique personal attribute.
