Description
Shinichiro Oda, a third-year Seiin High School student and boys’ volleyball team captain, defies expectations as the team’s shortest member at 163 cm. His green eyes and short brown hair, marked by a distinctive forehead tuft, mirror the energy of his navy-blue uniform adorned with sky-blue and white accents, paired with white kneepads and shoes. Off the court, he sports a standard school uniform with a casually loosened tie.

Initially joining the team as a first-year, Oda rose to captaincy, recruiting sharp-tongued vice-captain Misao Aoki and anchoring the team as an outside hitter. His leadership thrives on fiery passion and emotional resilience, bolstered by a 315 cm jumping reach that counters his stature. Though once plagued by height-related insecurities and doubts about his volleyball future, he redefined his purpose, prioritizing joy over victories—a mindset that dissolved his self-doubt and galvanized the team’s spirit.

This philosophy proved pivotal when teammate Haijima proposed benching him during a crucial match. The team’s unanimous rejection reinforced Oda’s role as their irreplaceable morale cornerstone. His surname, meaning “small rice field,” and given name—combining “expand,” “one,” and “son”—echo his journey from self-consciousness to steadfast leadership, championing camaraderie and perseverance as his defining legacy.
