Description
Arara is a character from the second season of the anime, introduced as one of the servants of Lord Mikel. She is a fairy-like being who serves as an antagonist to the mermaid princesses. Her appearance is distinct and whimsical; she has short, dark green hair, pale pink eyes, and pointed ears. She wears a strapless green dress with a jagged, petal-like hem, complemented by white stockings and green shoes. A pair of light green, translucent fairy wings grow from her back, and she often carries a cane or baton adorned with a star and a red ball. Her overall design is notably similar to the character Tinkerbell, reflecting her fairy nature.

In terms of personality, Arara is energetic, peppy, and highly self-absorbed. She is deeply infatuated with herself and craves attention, believing herself to be extremely cute and seeing the mermaid princesses as her rivals in beauty and charm. This vanity is paired with a somewhat playful and mischievous streak. Despite her role as an antagonist, she is not inherently malicious but rather self-centered and easily annoyed, especially when her perceived cuteness is challenged or ignored. In the human world, she adopts the persona of a pop star, a pursuit she practices daily to fulfill her desire to be a teen idol. Her upbeat and bubbly exterior often masks the danger of her uncontrolled powers, which can lead to accidental catastrophes.

Arara’s motivations are largely driven by a need for admiration and the spotlight. She seeks to become a celebrated idol and uses her human disguise to perform on stage, amassing many fans. This desire for attention is a core part of her identity, and she considers the mermaid princesses obstacles to her goal of being the center of attention. Within the group of Lord Mikel’s servants, she works alongside Lady Bat and Lanhua. The Black Beauty Sisters find the trio strange due to their eccentric behavior and declarations of superiority. There is also a notable dynamic with Fuku, a small creature she frequently annoys or accidentally burns with her uncontrolled fire powers, which leads him to be cautious around her to avoid provoking her temper.

Her role in the story is that of a secondary antagonist in the second story arc, Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch Pure. She uses her singing abilities to attack the mermaid princesses and create chaos, but she is not always fully aware of the extent of her own powers. Ultimately, like her fellow servants, she is absorbed by her creator, Lord Mikel. In a moment of resolution, however, she is freed and even joins the mermaid princesses in singing during the final chapter, indicating a shift away from her antagonistic role.

Arara possesses several notable abilities, most of which are activated through her songs. One of her primary attacks is the song Star Mero Mero Heart, which can paralyze the mermaid princesses and make them feel unwell. She also has the power to create and control fire, which she can use to destroy surfaces or cause unintended burns. Her singing also has a charming effect on humans; her song Oh Yeah! Arara can make all males who hear it fall in love with her, though it has no effect on females. In the manga, her powers differ slightly, as she instead throws stars that transport people into a world of dreams, allowing her to control their dreams and create nightmares. A recurring trait is her lack of control over her own magical abilities, particularly her fire, which she sometimes unleashes unintentionally.
