Description
Colonello is a former member of COMSUBIN, the Italian naval special forces, and one of the seven Arcobaleno, the group of infant cursebearers who are acknowledged as the world's strongest individuals. He holds the blue Pacifier, which represents the Rain attribute. His path to becoming an Arcobaleno was not by original design; the role was meant for his superior and close companion, Lal Mirch. On the day the curse was bestowed, Colonello intervened to take her place to save her from that fate. While he successfully became the Rain Arcobaleno, his action was not without consequence, as Lal Mirch was left with an incomplete and corrupted form of the curse.
In his infant state, Colonello has blond, spiky hair and light blue eyes. He almost always wears green army camouflage, black army boots, and a camouflage bandana with the number 01 on it. Despite his small stature, he carries an anti-tank rifle that serves as his primary weapon and is often seen being flown by his animal partner, a hawk named Falco. When reverted to his original adult form, he appears taller with the same confident grin and military attire, though he is no longer seen with his rifle or Falco.
Colonello possesses a strong and assertive personality. He is confident, competitive, and occasionally comes across as arrogant, driven by a deep dislike for losing. This is most evident in his longstanding rivalry with the Sun Arcobaleno, Reborn. The two share a complex dynamic; they constantly challenge one another and bicker, yet they also share many traits, such as being merciless tutors, having a sharp tongue, and possessing the unusual ability to fall asleep instantly while standing or even mid-conversation. He also has a verbal tic, often adding an abrupt interjection similar to "hey" or "kora" to the end of his sentences.
Beyond his competitive nature, Colonello has a well-defined heroic and caring side, demonstrating a strong sense of friendship and a willingness to sacrifice himself for others, as shown by his intervention for Lal Mirch. He enjoys teasing serious individuals, a habit he frequently directs at Lal Mirch, whom he often tells to act more womanly. Despite these provocations, his feelings for her are genuine and deep. The two were once instructor and student, but their relationship grew into a romantic one. Lal Mirch was his superior officer in COMSUBIN, initially reluctant to train him due to his youth, but they eventually grew close. In the future timeline, his death is said to have been caused by his attempt to protect another Arcobaleno, Viper of the Mist, an event that deeply shocks and saddens Lal Mirch.
