Description
Gernia Han is the crown prince of the kingdom of Sangatras and serves as the primary antagonist in the first season of the story. He is estimated to be thirty years old. His role in the narrative is set in motion when he is betrothed to Princess Rita Sior of Wellber in a political arrangement designed to prevent another devastating war between their two nations.
On the surface, Gernia presents himself as a charming and refined prince, but this demeanor masks a severely disturbed psyche. In his youth, he was described as a gentle and talented boy, skilled in both civil and military matters. This personality shattered after he witnessed his mother engaged in an affair. This event ignited a deep-seated hatred for her that ultimately led to her being driven to suicide. The trauma permanently warped his view of women, specifically those with blue eyes, triggering an intense obsession and uncontrollable murderous impulses.
Secretly, Gernia is a sadistic serial killer. His modus operandi involves murdering women to claim their eyes, which he kept as trophies. His motivations are rooted not in political ambition but in this pathological obsession. During his official visit to Wellber to formalize the engagement, his true nature is revealed when he attempts to add Princess Rita to his collection. However, he underestimates her; Rita, who is proficient in self-defense, stabs him with the very knife he intended to use to kill her and escapes.
This violent rejection has an unexpected consequence. Rather than enraging him, being stabbed by Rita captivates Gernia. He becomes utterly fascinated by her strong will and falls obsessively in love with her, shifting his goal from murder to possession. His injury and subsequent disappearance create a political powder keg, as his father, King Rambernoff, uses the assault on his son as a pretext to threaten war against Wellber unless Rita is executed within fourteen days.
Gernia has one significant relationship, with a Sangatras military officer named Galahad Eiger. Galahad is Gernia’s childhood friend and the captain of the Black Lion Corps, who initially swears vengeance on Princess Rita for harming the prince. Their bond is tested and ultimately broken when Galahad discovers the horrifying truth of Gernia’s secret life as a serial killer. Horrified by his friend's actions, Galahad abandons his quest for revenge and deserts the Sangatras army. In the end, Galahad turns against him completely, fatally stabbing Gernia, who then dies when a collapsing building falls on him.
