Description
Mehitak Pore is a Nodos, a being who has formed a contract with the powerful Silver Tribe and houses a powerful entity known as a Heroic Tribe. Originating from the planet Pore, his people are known as the Cerneas tribe, a race that holds a deep-seated cultural taboo against killing, which shapes much of his character. Bound by a three-part labor contract with the Silver Tribe, his obligations include ensuring his tribe's prosperity through obedience, serving the Silver Tribe until his strength is exhausted, and coming to the aid of other Nodos serving the same masters.
Despite possessing immense destructive power, Mehitak has a profound aversion to conflict. He despises fighting and is deeply pained by seeing others hurt as a direct result of combat. This pacifistic nature is not born from cowardice but from a genuine fear of his own capabilities and the weight of the destruction he has caused in the past. It is mentioned that he has previously destroyed numerous planets with his power, a fact that haunts him and makes him reluctant to engage in battle. This internal conflict is exacerbated by his tribe’s absolute prohibition on taking life, which extends even to plants; as a result, Mehitak sustains himself by consuming non-living matter, such as raw metal, which his body can transmute at the atomic level for sustenance.
The Heroic Tribe entity bonded to Mehitak is called Artemia, whose true nature is identified as representing "Waves" or sometimes interpreted as "Light". In his Artemia form, Mehitak is a formidable force capable of firing massive energy beams that can engulf entire planets. Artemia also possesses the unique defensive ability to convert its body into energy, allowing it to reflect or refract incoming energy-based weaponry. Despite these formidable powers, this form has a specific vulnerability to gravity-based laser beams, which can overcome its energy-based defenses.
Throughout the story, Mehitak is often seen in the company of his fellow Nodos, Lecty Leque. Their relationship is a close one, with Lecty often fighting on his behalf to spare him the pain and trauma of battle. Mehitak’s role shifts dramatically after his Artemia is defeated in combat by Bellcross, the Heroic Tribe of the Iron Tribe's champion, Age. Following this defeat, which fulfills the condition of his second labor by exhausting his power, he finds himself aboard the Argonaut, the flagship of the Iron Tribe. Initially cowering in fear upon meeting Age, his demeanor changes completely when Age tells him that he no longer has to fight. This release from his coerced obligations causes him to break down into tears, releasing years of pent-up emotional burden and fear, a moment so heartfelt that it moves others to tears as well.
Having fulfilled the terms of his contract with the Silver Tribe, Mehitak is freed from servitude. He then makes a conscious choice to aid the Iron Tribe of his own free will. He joins Age in confronting the remaining hostile Nodos, driven by a newfound hope for a peaceful resolution between the warring tribes rather than by compulsion. This marks a significant character development, transitioning from a reluctant, fear-driven participant in cosmic warfare to a voluntary fighter who chooses to battle to protect others and uphold his own principles, all while overcoming his deep-seated trauma to act on his own terms.
